He Won $200,000. His First Move Will Surprise You.
He never forgot who saved him.
A Boise, Idaho man just won $200,000 on a lottery ticket. Before he spent a dime on himself, he walked into the Interfaith Sanctuary homeless shelter and handed them $20,000.
Ten percent. Right off the top.
The man, who asked to remain anonymous, told staff he wanted to thank them for saving his life.
Years ago, he was homeless and battling addiction. The shelter took him in. Today, he's been sober for over two years and lives in his own home.
Shelter director Jodi Peterson said it's the largest monetary gift the shelter has ever received from a former guest. That $20,000 will fund roughly 500 nights of care for people who need it.
He didn't do it for recognition. He didn't want his name out there. He just walked in, handed over the check, and said thank you.
Sometimes the people who've had the least are the ones who give the most.
