Brian McKnight files lawsuit against son, ex-wife, Marc Lamont Hill and others over ‘smear campaign’ against him
The latest lawsuit is the second McKnight has filed in the last six weeks, as he filed a defamation suit against 'The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,' North Carolina radio host Karen Clark and Urban One over a 2025 interview his ex-wife did with Clark and the playing of clips from his estranged son's interview with Hill.

Again, you’re nobody ‘til somebody sues you. Brian Mczknight is going on a tear suing Urban One, his ex-wife, his son, Marc Lamont Hill, and Tasha K.
He had allegedly won $8.8 million from a suit a few months prior. He is seeking to rake in even more dollars with these suits. This is his come up. His career has been at a standstill for decades and now he’s using the court system to eat.

The litigious nature of all these proceedings is a sad sight to see as he battles his family members. But you have to respect the pimping. As he anticipates reaping in the cash from the lawsuits, McKnight is also trying to clear his name after Hill called him out.
The Ricky Smiley Show and The New York Post were not spared either. He focused his sights on the entire show for going against his person and actions, allegedly. In his mind he might feel he is being targeted for his personal interests. If he is so worried about being the subject of such derision, what exactly did he do?
Well, apparently, he did not show enough love to his sons, one who had been dying of cancer. With the idea that he has sustained something totally poor behavior wise, it is still something that the courts should look over and decide whether the defending parties are liable for their transgressions.
McKnight is aiming to get as much money out of those who stand against him. He’s going to march forward with these allegations with intrepid speed. What he is looking for is not just money but also justice. His name has already been besmirched. All he is doing is attempting to reclaim his name in the world. If he gets some cash in the meantime, and if the judge or jury determines he is eligible to take in millions of dollars in damages, so be it.

Again, it’s a tragedy that everything had to get so messy with his family, but such is life in America. We are the land of lawsuits. It is a great system where the law courts can settle disputes rationally. Without such an institution, blood would flow in the streets at significant rates. Police would be at the mercy of bringing men and women to justice as the proverbial jury, judge, and executioner.
While the courts seek perfection, they are still a line of protection if what ought to happen with honesty and integrity. With McKnight’s multiple suits, he aims to bring together the strands of what is right in his life.
His relations represent the idea of how an ex-husband and father and subject of media stories can fight any and all of them with their attorneys. It’s much better than fist fights or knives or guns. In the court of law, individuals are afforded the opportunity to convey their complaints and show themselves worthy of winning the case.
But who actually wins? It’s always going to be a case where there's a zero sum game. Of all the ways McKnight can earn money, the stench of the proceedings will always be in his nostrils. He will be no stranger to the realm of guilt. Not that he will be found that way in the court, but he will forever carry on the memory of engaging in legal battles with not just media personalities but his own kin.
To consider the fact he made his life better through song, will we get a new album addressing all of these issues? What can the man say to properly discuss all of these quagmires?
