Lahore Qalandars Clinch PSL 10 Trophy in Thrilling Final
PSL Trophy Goes to Qalandars: Sikandar Raza, Who Arrived Just 10 Minutes Before the Toss, Turned the Match Around In the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by six wickets and claimed the PSL 10 trophy. In Sunday’s final of the Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators set a target of 202 runs for Lahore Qalandars. Lahore successfully chased it down in the last over, winning the match by six wickets and securing the PSL title for the third time. The most thrilling moment of the match came in the final over when Lahore needed 12 runs from six balls. Sikandar Raza emerged as the game-changer, hitting a six and then a four on the second-last ball to turn the tide and snatch victory. Thus, the grand finale at Gaddafi Stadium was claimed by Lahore Qalandars. Quetta Gladiators chose to bat first after winning the toss. They posted 201 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, with aggressive batting performances from Hassan Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf. It’s worth noting that before PSL 10, Lahore Qalandars had already won two finals, while Quetta Gladiators had won one final previously. Lahore began the chase with Fakhar Zaman and Muhammad Naeem opening the innings. Fakhar Zaman was dismissed LBW for 11 runs by Abrar Ahmed. Muhammad Naeem, however, played explosively, scoring 46 runs off 27 balls with six sixes and a four before getting out in the ninth over. Batsman Abdullah Shafique hit a six in the 11th over to take Lahore’s score to 103 but was later dismissed for 41 by Usman Tariq. By the end of the 17th over, Lahore Qalandars had scored 155 runs for the loss of four wickets. Bhanuka Rajapaksa only managed 14 runs. Kusal Perera remained not out with a brilliant 62 off 31 balls, including four sixes and five fours. Sikandar Raza scored 22 runs. In the first innings, Quetta opened with Saud Shakeel and Finn Allen. Hassan Nawaz top-scored with 76 runs, hitting eight fours and four sixes. Avishka Fernando scored 29, Faheem Ashraf 28, while Rilee Rossouw and Dinesh Chandimal scored 22 each. Finn Allen and Saud Shakeel made 12 each, while Khurram Shehzad remained not out on 2. Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Amir were dismissed without scoring. During the 12th over, Lahore replaced Asif Ali (after he collided with Muhammad Naeem) with Mohammad Ikhlaq for the remainder of the innings. --- Raza Makes History in PSL The PSL final also became a hot topic on Pakistani social media. Haris Rauf received much praise for dismissing Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed for zero. Sikandar Raza received massive appreciation not just for his match-winning performance but also for arriving at the stadium just minutes before the toss. Cricket analyst Saj Sadiq shared on X: > “There was no available flight for Sikandar Raza. Due to limited connections and time constraints, he had to be taken from Nottingham to Birmingham. Then he flew to Abu Dhabi, traveled in economy class, stayed at the airport for 6–7 hours, traveled another 3 hours, and finally landed at 6:50 PM — just 10 minutes before the toss. Full credit to Raza for making it happen.” As the final over approached with Lahore needing 12 off 6 balls, fans shared every moment of the nail-biting finish on social media. Raza’s game-changing six and four were widely applauded. One user, Maverick, wrote: > “From Harare to Lahore! Raza has etched his name into PSL history. What a magnificent night.” Muhammad Naeem's aggressive innings was also praised online, with many calling him an asset to Lahore Qalandars. User Tahseen Qasim wrote: > “Muhammad Naeem is playing brilliantly — hitting three consecutive sixes off Faheem Ashraf. He’s been outstanding this season.” At the end of the first innings, journalist Faizan Lakhani shared: > “Haris Rauf debuted in T20s on October 5, 2018, and has taken 309 wickets in 234 matches — the most by any fast bowler since debut and second overall behind only Rashid Khan, who has taken 453 wickets in 351 matches during that time.”
