EARLY DAYS OF MANOLO

"Manolo" Manuel Márquez Roca, a Spanish professional football manager and former player who was born on September 7, 1968, has established himself in the coaching community . Márquez started his coaching career in Spain, where he worked with numerous teams in the Spanish Football League and earned invaluable experience .Márquez has had remarkable managerial success in the Spanish Football League, having guided UD Las Palmas and Real Betis B to successful campaigns . Márquez was chosen to lead Hyderabad FC, an Indian professional football team that plays in the Indian Super League, in 2020 . Márquez led the squad to a good season despite the team's shaky start, which culminated in their win in the 2021 Indian Super League playoffs .

MILESTONES IN INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE .

After their inaugural season, Hyderabad FC had nothing to show for it. They had a difficult debut season and came in last place. They had Albert Roca, the former head coach of Bengaluru FC, as their top candidate for season two, but the Spaniard accepted a job offer from Barcelona. The principal, Marquez, enters. Strong Spanish accent, slouched shoulders, thick salt-and-pepper hair on the head, perpetual scowl. He isn't grinning at you; it's just the way he carries himself.

Marquez, who was far into his sixties, took over a squad that was significantly less talented than the top teams in the Indian Super League . But what he accomplished with that squad is just amazing.Marquez, who was far into his sixties, took over a squad that was significantly less talented than the top teams in the Indian Super League . But what he accomplished with that squad is just amazing.

He demonstrated the potential of his youthful team throughout his debut season. They employed a novel style of play, allowed the Indian players to play out from the back, and avoided just kicking the ball to the striker (Dimitar Berbatov would have loved playing in Hyderabad). They came close to making the playoffs by just two points. But in his second season, when he led his inexperienced team to the ISL title, was when the real magic happened.By maximising their potential and placing them in positions that best suited their individual games, he transformed his squad of underdogs into the ISL champions. Nobody was bigger than the squad; no major superstar player was in charge. He regularly played Indians in crucial positions, something that other coaches tended to avoid doing. His dependable fullbacks, Akash Mishra and Asish Rai, were employed to the fullest extent possible. Asish was urged to practise his crossing skills while Akash occasionally made a marauding run down the left wing. Akash and Asish were young players with raw promise; they were members of the Indian Arrows, a development squad that once competed in the I-League, the second tier of Indian football.

When his international players were injured, Marquez's confidence in his raw Indian youth, such as Mohammad Yasir, Hitesh Sharma, and the slightly more experienced Halicharan Narzary, paid off. The team's nucleus was made up entirely of Indians, who were crucial to their ISL championship victory. Heck, if not for key player injuries and a COVID wave that ravaged the team just days before the crucial match against Jamshedpur FC, they might have even taken home the League Shield. Jamshedpur eventually took home the League Shield, which is given to the team with the best record at the conclusion of the league campaign.Even now, roughly halfway through the ISL season, Hyderabad FC is the side to beat. Despite their top striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche, not playing at his best, they are still in first place in the standings (despite having played one more game). The ISL's top scorer, Ogbeche, has three goals to his credit, although Yasir and Narzary also have three. And that's the secret to Manolo's success: whereas other teams attribute their success to the performances of their international players, Manolo divides the work among his Indian players. In essence, this also elevates Hyderabad FC to the position of league's most admirable team. that each player that has played for Marquez has gotten better. While others, like Liston Colaco (now at ATK Mohun Bagan), were assisted, others, like Akash and Asish, have started for the national team.
