Liverpool hold a comfortable lead in the Europa League second leg against Sparta Praha at Anfield, but Jurgen Klopp's side are short on numbers on the field.

Liverpool star Carter Pinnington could be given his debut after the Red Devils added the teenager to their 'B' list for the Europa League.

While there is a deadline to add new names to the first team in Europe, Jurgen Klopp's side can still call up available players from their U21 squad. This prompted them to add 17-year-old Pinnington to the squad for the home match against Sparta Prague.

Pinnington's involvement comes after senior midfielder Ibrahima Konate was ruled out of the match due to injury. However, teenager Amara Nallo - who was on the bench for Sunday's draw with Manchester City - was not on Liverpool's squad long enough to qualify for the 'B' list after only joining Liverpool. Liverpool holds a solid advantage going into the Anfield meeting after a 5-1 victory in the Czech Republic. A comfortable lead could prompt Jurgen Klopp to field a number of youngsters, with Lewis Koumas and Mateusz Musialowski among the unused substitutes in the first leg.

“Ibou Konate is out, we start all three remaining halves [against Manchester City],” said Liverpool coach Klopp. “One fell, we played the next two games in six days with two centre-backs, who played all the time.”

Klopp added that Konate has a “good chance” of featuring in the FA Cup against Manchester United on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will continue to use Virgil van Dijk and Jarell Quansah after the pair started against Man City last time out.

Quansah qualifies for the 'B' list this season, as do first-team teammates Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott. Polish youngster Musialowski and striker Jayden Danns were both added to the squad ahead of their last trip to Prague.

Even though he is only 17 years old, Pinnington has been a regular starter for the Liverpool U21 team in Premier League 2 this season. He also started all four EFL Trophy matches as the Red Devils reached the second round.

He also played the full 90 minutes in the impressive 7-1 FA Youth Cup win over Arsenal in January. Danns and Koumas were both promoted to the first team after scoring in that match, while Trey Nyoni - who started started that match in midfield - making an impressive debut in the FA Cup fifth round against Southampton.

Liverpool played comfortably in the first leg against Sparta Praha when Darwin Nunez scored twice in a 5-1 victory. They also boast a perfect home record in the group stage, defeating Union SG, Toulouse and LASK by a combined score of 11 goals to 1.
