It was a night of utter humiliation for Barcelona as they went out of the Champions League after a crushing defeat by Bayern Munich.

Pundits called their 8-2 quarter-final loss "pathetic and embarrassing", while Spanish football writer Guillem Balague said Barca's proud heritage had been "thrown in the bin".

Long-serving defender Gerard Pique did not hold back after the match, saying changes were needed - amid widespread reports boss Quique Setien, who has only been in the job since January, would be sacked.

Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique: "This is very painful but I hope it serves some purpose... We all need to reflect deeply, the club needs lots of changes, I'm not talking about the coach, players - I don't want to point the finger at anyone but the club needs changes on a structural level.

"If new blood needs to come for the club to change course then I'm not untouchable and I'll be the first to leave if needs be, because it seems as if we've hit rock bottom.

"We all have to reflect about what is the best thing for the club and for Barca."

Nelson Semedo

Semedo: "We have just studied the way Bayern play we will comeback stronger"

Barcelona players were devastated from yesterdays defeat and are having troubles settling their brains. Players claim that Barcelona should stop thinking about signing new players but instead they should centralize their thinking towards building a better, stronger and rigid team structure.

Captain Lionel Messi who has seen the club progress for 15 years concluded by saying that "A lot has to change"

However, on the other side Bayern Munich players were over the moon with this wonderful victory as a result the players had really good assumptions about the club.

Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich who was awarded man of the match has said “I think in this moment our team is in incredible shape,”, and he concluded by outlining the hard work of the club “We work so hard; with this intensity it’s hard for everyone to beat us. We had so much fun today. For our style of play it doesn’t matter what the names of the [opposition] players are."

Also Bayern Munich players have hinted that they are aiming high in this tournament to reach the finals and win it “It was very special but we have to be quiet, regenerate. It’s a big statement but the next game starts 0-0. We have to win the next game as well to reach our big goal of the final.

“We are not here to win the quarter-final or the semis, we’re here to win the final. I know these tournament situations a lot and most of the time after these big wins it’s more difficult, so we have to be careful.”

Bayern Munich clearly "destroyed" Barcelona last week and it was surely the most humiliating defeats in the UCL history, however this is not the first time that something like this happened, back in 2013 UCL Bayern Munich crushed Barcelona setting another historic record in the UCL.

Just few days after this remarkable defeat many players from Barcelona are available for a transfer into another team including some key players:

- Luis Suarez

-Gerard Pique

-Jordi Alba

and many other players.

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that "we have a big project planned for next season", suggesting that Barcelona are likely to change their style of playing and techniques. Even though, Barcelona are at the bottom of their remarkable race through history it seems like that there is still a high chance to reach the peak again.

Is this the end of Barcelona forever? or, Will Barcelona come back stronger next season for a staggering revenge, what do you think?
