Casey Murphy: 6’1'' GK of Bridgewater, NJ for Bridgewater-Raritan HS she was ranked the #18 player in NJ and a four-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com, she lead her HS team to win the NJSIAA group IV state championship in her senior season. She made 131 saves, had 16 shoutouts, and was awarded HS MVP. Meanwhile at the club level Her PDA Slamers won the ECNL U17 national championship while she wasn't on the field, she was a student-teacher aide at a local school.

At Rutgers she was a 2x College All American, 2x Big 10 GK of the year, 2x All-Big 10 Conference, In her sophomore year, she led Rutgers to their first ever College Cup in 2015, in which Murphy's PK winning save was the difference maker. She also had represented and started for the US U20 women's national team in the 2016 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in PNG, in which she lead the US to a fourth place finish and had the most saves in the tournament. Since then, Murphy has spent time with the US U23 WNT in various camps/international tournaments. She was even invited to a US women's national team camp in January of 2017, in which she stands in the mix to become the next USWNT starting GK. For her college career at Rutgers she lead the nation with 0.25 GAA, and 92.9 percent save percentage in her redshirt junior season making her the best women's college GK in the country. She is also now the All-Time leader in shutouts (45), making it a huge milestone achievement for RU Soccer. Her RU college coach and longtime PDA coach Mike O'Neil believes that with everything she brings to the field, she could be the starting GK for the USWNT in the World Cup and Olympics. If that were the case she would have to really fight for the starting spot.

Casey got into the US national team system as a U14 and U15 member, and got into the U18 player pool in 2013. Considering that even with Hope Solo fired, Alyssa Neaher has appeared to be chosen for the starting GK, but at times she is not always perfect. Ashlyn Harris at #2 once was Solo's backup, but has been hampered by injures which have set her back. Jane Campbell (#3) is widely considered to be the future GK of the USWNT, putting Murphy in a tough position. The two other wild cards are Adrianna Franch of the Portland Thorns, who was the 2017 best GK for the NWSL, who's only criticism has been she's a little less than perfect. Last but not least there is Abby Smith who also has potential, but a series of injuries have set her back.

In the 2018 Women's College Draft, Casey Murphy was drafted by Sky Blue FC in the second Round, with the 13th overall pick, however, she decided to sign overseas with Montpellier HSC in the D1 Feminine's (France) and will join Sky Blue FC in June. She's already at an advantage to compete in a professional environment and develop as a player before the NWSL season begins.

Off the field, Casey Murphy has made several video projects via Youtube on her efforts to grow the women's game. They include showing the whereabouts from the top professional women's leagues and how you can watch them. Such as the NWSL, FA WSL, French D1 Feminine, and the UEFA Women's Champions League. Another project talks about how female are athletes portrayed in the media, and what can be done to improve the image of the female athletes in all sports.

This shows that not only can Casey Murphy be part of the full women's national team, she could also be a great role model and activist for growing the women's game.
