Cristiano Ronaldo Aveiro dos Santos is a Portuguese football player born February 5th 1985 in Funchal, Madeira Portugal. Ronaldos father, John Dinis Aveiro was the equipment manager of a local club Andorinha. The name Ronaldo was added to Cristiano name in honor of his father's favorite movie actor, Ronald Reagan, who was U.S president at the time of Cristiano's birth. At the age of 15 Ronaldo was diagnosed with heart condition that necessitated surgery, but he was sidelined briefly and made a full recovery. He first played for club desportivo national of Madeira and then transferred to sporting club de Portugal (known as sporting Lisbon) where he played for their various youth teams before making his debut with sporting first team in 2002.

His scoring prowess continued with his new team Real Madrid. He netted the most goals (40) in la Liga history during 2010-2011 season. Ronaldo helped Madrid capture a la Liga trophy and scored a personal best of 40 goals in the league season. He also scored a total of 66 goals in 56 appearances with Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team in 2013 to earn his second FIFA world best player of the year award. An award which was later renamed to FIFA Ballon d'or in 2010.

In 2014 he scored 52 goals in 43 games and led Real Madrid to a champions league title which resulted in Ronaldo winning another Ballon d'or award.2014-2015 he netted his 324th goals as a Real Madrid Madrid player in October 2015 to become the club's all time highest goal scorer. He scored 35 La Liga goals in 2015-2016 and helped Real Madrid win it's record 11th champions league title and in December 2016 he won a 4th career Ballon d'or for his heroics.
