This Selangor Man Bet on His Old Car Plate Numbers for 10 Years and Just Won RM14.8 Million
Some people pick random numbers. Some people use birthdays. This guy used his old car plates and stuck with them for a decade. Turns out that was the right call.
A 52-year-old property manager from Selangor has walked away with RM14.8 million after his Sports Toto numbers finally came in. He claimed the prize on May 6, and the winning combination 9186 and 4828 were the registration plates of two of his former vehicles.
He described the numbers as carrying "sentimental value," which is a very understated way of saying they just changed his life.
The best part? His total bet was RM6. That's it. Six ringgit for a RM14.8 million jackpot, placed at the STM Lottery head office.
A Former Sceptic
The man admitted that before this, he used to read lottery winner stories in the news and quietly wonder whether they were even real. He's not wondering anymore.
"Now that I have personally experienced it, I can say the winning stories are indeed real," he said which is probably the most relatable thing a lottery winner has ever said.
With his windfall, he plans to buy a luxury car, invest in properties, and manage the money carefully for long-term financial security. Solid plan, honestly especially for someone who just turned RM6 into nearly RM15 million.
He wasn't the only winner either. Another lucky punter from Kuala Lumpur also took home a slice of the jackpot, walking away with RM1,975,853.50 from the same draw.
Somewhere out there, everyone who has ever held onto a "lucky number" for years is now feeling very validated.
