Chapter 4

The Wounds of Truth

The hospital room was filled with a terrifying silence…

The only sound was the steady rhythm of the medical machines, reminding everyone that life was still holding on by a thin thread.

Mahater lay between life and death.

The bullet fired by Mona was not just a physical wound…

It was the moment when everything changed forever.

Ahmed remained beside her day and night.

He barely left the room, afraid that even a few moments away might mean losing her forever.

For the first time in his life…

Ahmed felt real fear.

Not the fear of losing money.

Not the fear of losing his business empire.

But the fear of losing Mahater.

The woman who had stood beside him through every battle.

Outside the hospital, Abdou continued his investigation silently.

But with every new piece of information, the truth became darker.

Mona and her husband were not simply involved in a suspicious relationship.

They were part of a much larger criminal network involving:

Drug trafficking

Money laundering through the factory project

Illegal financial operations using false identities

The factory was never just a business project…

It was a carefully designed cover for a massive criminal operation.

Meanwhile, inside the prison, Mona sat alone.

There was no regret in her eyes.

Only anger.

She kept repeating the same thought:

"He is the reason… he destroyed everything."

She refused to see herself as guilty.

In her mind, she was only a victim trapped in a game bigger than her.

Ahmed sat beside Mahater’s bed, broken by guilt.

His voice trembled as he whispered:

"I destroyed your life… I trusted the wrong person."

But Mahater did not answer.

Her body was weak.

Yet deep inside, her spirit was still fighting.

Days passed.

Then, slowly…

Mahater opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw was Ahmed.

There was no smile.

No anger.

Only a long silent look filled with questions that had no answers.

That night, Abdou revealed the full truth.

This was not only a story of betrayal.

It was a complete criminal network involving drugs and money laundering.

Mona’s husband was the mastermind behind the financial side of the operation.

His death sentence was not because of a simple crime…

It was because of:

Leading an international drug trafficking network and organizing massive money laundering operations.

Ahmed stood frozen.

The truth was heavier than he expected.

It was not just a mistake.

He had been pulled into a game much larger than himself.

In prison, Mona faced one final interrogation.

The investigators revealed that Ahmed was not responsible for her husband’s downfall as she believed.

She laughed bitterly.

"Everyone has a reason to defend themselves… and I was the one who paid the price alone."

Mahater slowly recovered.

But something inside her had changed.

She was no longer the same woman who entered that hospital.

The bullet did not only hurt her body…

It awakened a stronger version of herself.

In a quiet moment, Ahmed sat beside her.

His voice was filled with regret:

"I lost everything… except you."

Mahater looked at him calmly and replied:

"We are not finished yet…"

At that exact moment…

The phone rang.

It was Abdou.

His voice sounded serious:

"There is something new… the case is not closed yet."

And once again…

The shadows began to move.
