The Violet Diaries

Diary Entry #1 Before you meet Devlyn, you should meet ME.

By Purple DiamondPublished 4 months ago • 2 min read

Before you meet Devlyn, you should meet ME... Because every story has a beginning, and mine didn't begin with him. It began with a little girl who dreamed big, loved deeply, and believed people when they told her who she was.

I was always a shy girl when I was younger, but at the same time, I loved being seen. Seen with a cute outfit on with sparkles, bows, flowers, or crowns. Seen with a cute hair style with colorful beads on the ends fit for a little princess like me. That's what I thought I was... a little princess, because my mommy and those who loved me most made me feel that way. The minute my mom finished doing my hair I'd stand up to shake my beads because I thought the sound was so cool and I was so excited about my hair style.

I always wanted to and dreamed of being a model. From the things I use to watch on tv, to the games I'd play with my girlfriends or siblings... it all always had something to do with modeling or fashion. I loved playing dress up and having tea parties with my mom, and O.M.G, barbies and Bratz dolls were my favorite. I played with dolls until I was about 13 or so because honestly, I wasn't fast like some of the other girls who I'd see wearing make- up, fake nails, and hair extensions. My mom was one of those mothers who felt a child should look and act their age at all times and I understand why. I thank her for teaching me that. So yes, I still played with barbies at the age of 13. I will never forget seeing on tv one day while watching my favorite channel a huge barbie house commercial that kept coming on and I finally found out the name of the toy. It was a "Barbie Talking Townhouse" with an elevator, pool, and kitchen with an oven that made sounds and had an oven light switch. I even remember the jingle to the commercial til' this day. That was my favorite Christmas present that my mom ever got me and I'll never forget it. My mom and grandma spoiled me and my brothers with all the love in the world, and the toys, games, snacks, trips, and sometimes money was just bonuses. What mattered most was their unconditional love and their physical, mental, and emotional protection was everything to us, and it shaped me into the woman I am today. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little bit, I have so much more to tell you.

Next time I'll tell you about the little girl who believed every cruel word spoken about her and how those words followed her into adulthood.
