The Strawberry Chapter 23

Trinkets

By Katherine Aguilar

This Chapter of the Strawberry goes over how precious life is, and how often we undervalue it, always putting off something for tomorrow when that tomorrow may never come. If only then can you look down at yourself to see and tell your body, “I wish I had taken advantage of the life I was given more than just to let it pass me by, only to see it disappear as you float away. For now, you will only be a memory, and as time goes by, your memory will fade among the friends you have met in your life, however few or many. This book is me sharing my memories with people, out to strangers who read this book, capturing memories of my past and present with others I have never met, to let in a way live on in others when my existence is long past and I am a faded memory. With the trinkets I share with others. So, as with the trinkets in the trinket box, it can be built upon and shared in your trinket box, for you to add to and share with others.

I believe there is a greater purpose for me on the earth. Hopefully, I can at least follow that purpose. I thought with my mother passing, I would've gotten a little time of my own after all these years. I see that is not the case. I am grateful that one of my purposes is to write. Which I truly enjoy. It gives me time to express myself about things from today to yesterday. Writing to be a better writer. Whatever thoughts I may have had during my time at the hospital. Where just thoughts. I know things seem clearer for me. I wasted a lot of my life trying to figure out what direction I should go in. Instead of taking the moment to actually enjoy my life.

Trinkets

You will never know whether your advice or trinket will have any effect on someone unless you ask the person. I took a moment to ask several of the people. I mentioned the trinkets I pulled out of my trinket box in the previous chapter: needs and wants, thinking, why, and punctuality. I asked them, “Were they of any value to them?” They said yes because they could pass them on to their children or friends. They are too young even to think of having children. By the time these students have children, I will be way too long retired, and I will be a faded memory in their lives. And even remembered, it would be for how annoying I was for always repeating the same words. As if I didn’t know what I was doing, or was always forgetting.

As I write this chapter and the previous ones, I have repeated the same words so I can share those trinkets with you as you read. They are now in your trinket box. Keep them or pass them on. It is now up to you to pass them on.

The Strawberry book is an expansion of how one person's action of faith grows into something greater than oneself. they are remembered in photos. The bible was written thousands of years ago, and many people read it today, but are afraid of what it says. When they look, they will find the answers to many of today's problems. They are the same now as they were back then. Many writers write the same thing about the past in today's terms, so that they can only be understood with today's vocabulary. Start with Proverbs, and you will see.

Light

This past week reminded me how fragile our health can be, prompting me to prioritize my well-being and encouraging you to do the same, so you can cherish life and avoid neglecting your health until it's too late.

I cannot, even as I write, fully express what happened. I just feel I was stressed, and that is what the hospital stay did for me. It gave me time to

rest, and it is going to have a big price tag on it. I wish I had just taken a vacation; it is cheaper than a hospital bill. It also opened my eyes as I went through the thoughts of my life, what I had missed because I got caught up in other people's worlds. When I should have been focusing a little more on my growth and the world. I told myself, “ Wow, Kathy, what could I have done differently? I have gotten a lot of things wrong in my life because of dyslexia. It was how my brain thought. Still, I can not consider that a complete excuse.

Solutions

I look for solutions all the time was always to try to find the answer. If I get the answer wrong, I can not change the outcome. It just took a long time to find the answer. Even now,as I write, I still need to find the answer to a lot of things.

I do know for sure I am right and ready to expand my thoughts and release my mind to others. Not to keep all the trinkets to myself of what I have learned. They could help someone else one day. At the same time, I am still trying to figure things out. They can already be using them in their lives if they find them useful. The Strawberry is the voice for me to share my trinkets with others. The beginning of The Strawberry starts with the small act of my grandfather making the sign of the cross. It has now grown to more than that. My voice, which was shut for a long time. It is freeing and

healing for my mind, heart, and soul.

Break

Take a vacation and moments with your family, and reevaluate your life and determine if you are going in the direction you were meant to be going. If you get it wrong, don’t be too hard on yourself. You are not the only one. Stick to your faith, and you will be fine. Share your trinkets with others, and you will fall into track of what you were meant to be doing if you got it wrong. Do not look at your past mistakes. Focus on the now. You can not change yesterday.

Breath

You need to take time to breathe. Yes, it is not the regular take a breath. It is taking a while to say “STOP!” To get yourself focused on who you want to be when you grow up. Yes, you could be in your fifties writing a book, telling yourself. Telling yourself “STOP!” What do you want to be when you grow up? Well, I decided to be a writer. To share what I learned over my life with others. Just this moment with me typing these words on this Chromebook is so rewarding to me. If you are reading this, then you are probably telling yourself to STOP! “ What am I going to be when I grow up?”

You will never stop growing until you die. Sharing my trinkets is very rewarding to me.
