The Forest of Whispers
It told truths only to those who entered with an unbroken heart.

Deep in the north stood a forest no map marked. Travelers said if you entered with deceit, the trees would turn their backs on you. But if you came with pain — real pain — they would speak.
Kira went there to find her brother, lost years ago in the war. She carried his compass, the needle still pointing home.
As she walked, the trees murmured her memories — every joy, every wound, every secret. When she reached the heart of the forest, she found a tree unlike the rest — silver-barked, with carvings shaped like tears.
“You seek the one you lost,” it said. “But he is part of me now.”
She touched the trunk, and the bark became warm. Through the grain, she saw her brother’s face — smiling, peaceful, free.
The climax: Kira planted the compass at the tree’s roots. The needle spun, then stopped, pointing upward — toward the stars.
She left without tears, knowing she’d found him — not gone, but grown.
