The Apartment That Only Existed in Mirrors

She rented it cheap. The catch? It was never supposed to be there.

When Nadia moved to Prague, she found a perfect apartment — central, affordable, and newly renovated. Except it wasn’t listed anywhere else. No neighbors. No records. No mail.

The oddest thing? Every mirror reflected a different layout. Her reflection sometimes stood in another room entirely — an elegant one, with paintings and furniture she didn’t own.

At first she thought it was light tricks — until one night, she woke to find her reflection awake while she slept. It stared directly at her, lips moving silently. She smashed the glass, terrified.

The next morning, all her mirrors had reappeared, unbroken. But the reflection was gone. Only the room behind it remained — flickering faintly, invitingly.

A week later, her landlord came to collect rent. The apartment was empty — just bare walls and a single mirror leaning against the floor. In it, the landlord swore he saw Nadia waving from inside, mouthing:

“It’s bigger here.”
