According to certain users, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are reportedly experiencing an issue with overheating.
Following the global release of the latest range of Apple products, a number of initial purchasers of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have expressed concerns regarding overheating issues with these devices.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max, which was introduced earlier this month, stands as the most expensive phone within the latest generation, priced at $1,200. This amount represents an increase of nearly 10% compared to the previous year's flagship iPhone. Positioned one tier below, the iPhone 15 Pro is available for purchase at a price of $1,000.
Although not all proprietors seem to be impacted, several posts have emerged on the iPhone subreddit in recent days, expressing grievances about excessively heated devices.
One individual stated, "I have recently encountered an issue with my device, which is quite peculiar. Prior to this, I have not experienced any difficulties with charging my 15 Pro. However, all of a sudden, it appeared to have become overheated to an unusual extent, with the entire phone emitting heat. Notably, there were no specific areas of localized heat."
What would be the impact of a government shutdown on national parks?
Another owner of the iPhone 15 Pro has claimed to have returned the device, stating that after charging overnight, the phone became "extremely dangerous" by morning.
In addition, another individual expressed their discomfort while using Spotify and iMessage on the phone, noting that it became uncomfortably hot to hold, even without a case. They further emphasized that this issue is particularly concerning as they have owned every iPhone model since the 6 and have never encountered such a problem before.
Apple's technical support team advises iPhone and iPad owners that their devices may feel warmer during initial setup, restoration from a backup, or wireless charging, among other scenarios. Apple assures users that a device that feels warm in these situations will return to its normal temperature once the process is complete or when the user finishes their activity.
According to the guidance provided on Apple's official website, it is stated that if a temperature warning is not displayed on the device, it is safe to continue using it.
Currently, the cause of the reported overheating incidents remains uncertain. However, if users continue to experience excessive heat from their phones even after the initial setup phase, it may indicate a more significant problem with Apple's flagship devices.
Nexstar has made an attempt to contact Apple regarding these reports, but has not yet received an official response.
Notwithstanding the grievances expressed, several owners of iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have attested to the absence of any problems with the new devices. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for contemporary gadgets to generate heat, given the progressively potent processors they are equipped with. The premium iPhone 15 variants feature a processor that can accommodate video games typically reserved for consoles.
