The dragons roar could be heard miles away, the griffins beak dripped with blood and the sky lit up with lightning once more. Crashing into the dragons head scales cracked and shattered the electricity causing convulsions for a moment before the flesh began to heal. Half a continent away the world tree shuddered, the elven folk taking shelter between its massive roots and it continued to stabilize and protect the world against the clash of the two titans. The world’s consciousness came to call upon the phoenix to end their fight. And in a burst of flames lava dripping from its mighty wings the great bird took flight like a meteor across the sky. Earth shattered as the dragon lunged a beam of blazing mana erupted from its jaws cleaving the wing off the griffin as she dodged. “Leave my land and go home” the draconic voice boomed louder than the thunder. Golden light pouring from the stump regrew the wing so fast it was nearly formed by the time the severed wing hit the ground and burst into sparks of light that rented her chest. “Drogon I have no qualm with you unless you wish to see my people remain isolated to their lands” She spoke before jumping back as a meteor struck the earth between them and a volcanic eruption of flames thrown ash and molten rock out in all directions. The Phoenix unfurling her wings as she spoke, “brother, sister please we are the guardians of this world we cannot be squabbling like this!” Drogons eyes narrowed as he spoke “I am defending my lands from this one, nothing more”. Gala growled in response “I am here to protect my people as they seek to expand from the mountains and enter the realms”. A great root burst from the fractured ground and as leaves sprouted from its branches they began to rustle in a way as to make a raspy ancient sounding voice “guardians of the land and sky, the worlds will is that we shall not interfere in the affairs of its inhabitants unless we are directed to act”. Both Gala and drogon could feel the will of the world pushing down on them.
Gala snarled but conceded, “as long as drogon agrees to not interfere than neither shall I”. With a huff of smoke from his snout drogon spoke “if Gala stays out of my lands then I will not interfere in the affairs of the dwarves and humans”.
Time passed and as humans developed to magical research, with the help and cooperation of the dwarves, and as they expanded they interacted with the elves of the forests, the elves did not directly teach humans their ways but they did share knowledge of the land in the hopes that the humans would grow to respect mother nature but as time went on the humans agreed for expansion, knowledge, land, and power grew along with their civilizations. And one day the realms of mankind attacked the dwarves wishing to steal all of their secrets greedy for the knowledge that they would not share and they drove the dwarves into hiding. Seeing this the elves also withdrew deeper into the woods hoping that the will of the world would put humans in their place before they could destroy the balance. A great sacrifice was made by world tree keeper of knowledge and the wilds, a sacrifice that would cripple mankind’s advancement and 100 years later mankind’s magical research had indeed stalled, but their kingdoms were ever growing and the wild lands shrunk year after year, magical beasts were hunted, the world was on the edge of falling out of balance and that’s were our story begins, in a mountain village where elves and humans once lived in peace…
