📖 Chapter Five – Part One

The previous chapter did not end in silence…

it ended in collapse.

Inside the Judges Club, everything changed in a single second when Counselor Ziad Mahrous was struck by a mysterious bullet.

For a moment, time itself seemed to freeze.

Then chaos erupted.

Screams filled the hall.

Panic spread uncontrollably.

Order dissolved into confusion.

Thuraya broke down in tears, unable to hold herself together.

Mona stood frozen for a few seconds—until instinct forced her to move. Quickly, she slid a black bag under the table with her foot, hiding it as though it carried something far more dangerous than the violence unfolding around them.

Mamdouh stood in the center of the chaos, shocked, furious, and desperate.

“I didn’t do anything!” he shouted.

“I swear I didn’t shoot him!”

But his voice was swallowed by the noise.

Security officers rushed forward and restrained him immediately.

Within moments, the entire club was under control.

Elsewhere in the hall, Counselor Mahmoud had been seated among several judges, engaged in ordinary discussion—routine matters, legal updates, nothing unusual—when the sound of gunfire shattered everything.

In an instant, reality broke apart.

People ran in every direction.

Voices overlapped in panic.

The calm of the institution disappeared completely.

At the center of it all, Ziad lay on the ground, bleeding, struggling to breathe.

An officer leaned down urgently.

“Who shot you?!”

Ziad slowly opened his eyes. His voice was faint, broken:

“I… saw the killer…”

Then his body went still.

He lost consciousness.

🚨 An Incomplete Accusation

Ziad was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, suspended between life and death.

Mamdouh was immediately arrested following the incident.

But the investigation quickly took a strange turn.

No weapon was found.

No forensic evidence linked him to the shooting.

And most importantly—the bullet itself told a different story.

It had been fired from an unknown external trajectory, impossible to trace under normal conditions.

The case was no longer simple.

It was no longer about who pulled the trigger.

It became about who controlled the moment.

Was Ziad the real target?

Or was the chaos itself the true weapon?

💔 Mona’s Collapse

Mona sat trembling uncontrollably, her breathing uneven, her body barely responding.

Thuraya rushed to her side and supported her.

Mona clutched her tightly and whispered in fear:

“Help me… Thuraya… I can’t feel my legs…”

But even as she spoke, her eyes kept drifting toward the black bag hidden beneath the table.

Silent.

Still.

And carrying a secret heavier than the bullet itself.

⚖️ The Return of Counselor Mahmoud

Days passed.

Ziad remained in intensive care—suspended between life and death.

The court faced a difficult decision: appoint a new judge or delay the entire case.

But the investigation was too large, too complex to stop.

Behind closed doors, confidential meetings were held.

And slowly, the truth emerged.

There had been a deliberate attempt to remove Counselor Mahmoud from the case.

A silent power move hidden behind the chaos.

But with Ziad critically injured, the plan collapsed.

The official decision was announced:

Counselor Mahmoud would return to preside over the case.

🏛️ The Court Session

The courtroom was packed.

Journalists. Lawyers. Senior judges.

Every seat was occupied.

Dr. Sanad stood inside the defendant’s dock, isolated behind the bars.

Mona and Thuraya sat silently among the audience.

The court officer struck the floor.

“All rise!”

Everyone stood.

Counselor Mahmoud entered calmly and took his seat.

He looked directly at the accused.

“What is your name?”

The man answered nervously:

“Dr. Sanad Mamdouh.”

The charges were read formally:

Drug trafficking.

Money laundering.

Collaboration with international criminal organizations.

The prosecutor declared firmly:

“The prosecution demands the maximum penalty.”

Mahmoud leaned forward slightly.

“Do you confess to the charges?”

Dr. Sanad immediately replied:

“I am innocent! I have nothing to do with any of this!”

⚠️ A Witness Changes Everything

The judge ordered the defense witnesses to enter.

Then, suddenly, the same man who had previously staged the confrontation stepped into the courtroom.

Mahmoud froze for a brief moment.

He recognized him immediately.

The witness spoke confidently:

“Dr. Sanad has nothing to do with this case. These are fabricated accusations against a respected man.”

He continued:

“The illegal substances were planted in his medical shipments.”

The defense lawyer quickly seized the moment:

“My client is a respected doctor—not a criminal as claimed.”

📂 The Investigation Files

Counselor Mahmoud carefully reviewed the case files.

What he found was far bigger than a single defendant.

Names.

Shell companies.

Hidden accounts.

International connections.

Everything pointed to a structure—not an individual.

A network operating behind the surface of normal life.

🔥 Mona’s Confession

Suddenly, Mona stood up.

Her voice trembled as fear took over her completely.

“I will tell the truth…”

The courtroom fell into absolute silence.

She continued:

“Dr. Sanad is innocent of running the empire…”

A pause.

Then the words that shattered everything:

“My husband… was the one who controlled everything.”

Whispers exploded across the room.

Thuraya closed her eyes, as if she had always feared this moment.

Mona raised her head again:

“My husband… who was executed… was the real leader. He worked with international criminal organizations.”

Then she added, slowly:

“And there is another man… the one who is running everything now.”

The entire courtroom froze.

Mahmoud’s voice cut through the silence:

“Who is he?!”

Mona turned toward the back rows in terror.

Her lips trembled—

She was about to speak the name…

When suddenly…

the courtroom lights went completely out.
