Episode 1: “My PatriClan African Ancestry Results Revealed”

Greetings everyone, and welcome to “The African Latino.”

I'll share my "PatriClan African Ancestry" results with you in today's episode.

Before we begin, make sure to subscribe to support my ancestry exploration.

I had my mother at my side the whole time. She supported me along the process, assisted me with the tests, and was there when we eventually opened the results.

However, I already had a feeling in my heart. I'm not sure why, but I genuinely thought that my father's father's side of the family had an African ancestor.

There were a lot of possible outcomes, but when my mother and I eventually opened it, there it was.

Gabon

My mom and I were taken aback.

I simply sat there in silence, processing everything.

After digging more into what was discovered, I found links to three tribes that are particularly associated with Gabon. The Kota, Tsogo, and Ateke peoples.

The ancestral chronology indicates that the tribes originated between 500 and 2,000 years ago. It became real to me when I saw that. This was no longer merely data shown on a screen.

These were actual people.

Real-life stories.

Real ancestors.

Many generations lived lives that somehow brought me to this point. I became aware that this journey was more than me at that moment. It was intimate. I want to freely share my experience with you now that I am aware of my ancestral ties to Gabon.

In addition to learning more about Africa, I want to understand more about my identity, history, religion, and self.
