Demons and Angels

The battle for a soul (Chapter 2)

By Novel AllenPublished 9 months ago 3 min read
Angel Bhhari

As the battle for the soul of Sister Gwendolyn continued to rage, the All Mother looked on with concern, ire and puzzlement. Why was Lucifer so intent on disobeying her orders from the pits of Hell. Why was his demon locked in battle for a soul which she had ordained as forgiven. Yes, Gwendolyn's crime had been horrendous, but had she not atoned and done some good works for many years. Forgiveness was a luxury that only the All Mother could grant.

In Gwendolyn's room, sparks flew from the eyes of Shayala as Ithar raised his angel shield to block the sharp laser fire. He raised his hand and fired rounded balls of searing light at the demon, they burned as she screamed, this light was heavenly, it could incinerate the demon to complete ash. Yet he had no intention of killing her, those were not his orders.

Mercifully, Gwendolyn slept while all hell was breaking loose around her. She had been sedated earlier, the doctor could not see all the carryings on right in front of him. This was mystical, supernatural, not something that mortal eyes could discern. Had she been awake, however, Gwendolyn would have seen everything.

All Mother

In the realm of the Gods, All Mother could take it no more. She decided to summon Bhhari, her favorite of all her children, and dispatched her to put an end to the dispute on Earth.

Lucifer also was growing weary of waiting on Shayala to deliver him the soul of a nun. What joy he would engender from a frocked one gracing his portals, to suffer the fires of Hell. He dispatched a few of his shrewdest demons to go assist their sister upon Earth.

The angel and demons arrived in tandem, they all gathered in the small room, encircling the deathbed of the poor unsuspecting nun who just wanted to end her days in peace.

Fire and flames flew this way and that, angels and demons battled in the supernatural realm, their fire and flame could only singe and burn each other, not the buildings or the furniture or any mortals present within their close proximity.

Bhhari soon tired of the whole hell and heaven battle. She needed to make a decision. She withdrew from the fray and quickly assessed the life of the poor woman whose life and continuation hung in the balance. She closed her eyes and channeled her All Mother.

"Mother, may I be permitted to add ten years to the life of this nun. I believe that Lucifer wants her soul because he sees some good in her. He would like nothing better than to bleed her dry of any decency which still resides in her heart".

All Mother had every faith in this child of hers. Her opinion held great sway in the grand scheme of things. She spoke to Ithar telepathically, asked his opinion, after all he was the lead angel sent to defend the nun.

Ithar replied that he was of the same opinion, but he wished that she had previously given him the option to make that call, it seems she constantly favors Bhhari and it was beginning to cause dissension among the other angels.

All Mother promised to think on the matter and make an effort to keep peace in Heaven. She did not want another Fallen Angel situation. After all, look at what Lucifer had become, look how much trouble her first born was now causing. His defying her and trying her patience, was grating on her last nerve.

Ithar nodded to Bhhari, she stepped towards the bed and laid her hands on Gwendolyn's head. Gwen moaned and jerked upwards, the beams of light coursed through her entire body as her form raised itself up, as if levitating into the air. Then she fell back onto the bed, she was so still, everyone thought that she had actually died.

Her eyes flew open as she gasped for air, her lungs felt like they were on fire.

"Am I dead"? She asked, coughing and looking around at the strange array of forms standing around her bed.

Shayala, realizing what had happened, screamed in an ear-splitting blast of deafening cacophony. She fired rounds and rounds of hellfire, the angels quickly covered Gwendolyn with their bodies. Shayala opened the hell portal and the demons made a screeching, screaming exit back down to Hell.

Gwendolyn knew that she had not seen the last of her.

The angels bid her goodbye. She did not yet know what had happened. The doctors were shocked to see Gwen awake. The new scans showed that the tumor was completely gone from her brain.

Nurse Gwendolyn

Sister Gwendolyn had been given a second chance at life.

My favorite part of this chapter was when Shayala rained down hellfire, and the angels protected Gwendolyn!! I also like how there is moral ambiguity around Gwendolyn, it makes her such an interesting character!

  • Ah man, I wanted her to die 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh well, let's wait and see what happens next!

  • With a glass of red in hand, I sauntered over to Chapter 2. All Mother, of course I know her. We are old and dear friends. We have laughed together and shared tears. Shayala, Lucifer... say hello to them for me. Now, Gwen... do better with you life. Bravo, Novel Allen!!!!!!!
