Chapter 1.6

She turned off the heat and moved the pot to the counter. There was a large bowl in the drying rack next to the sink. She grabbed it and poured the noodles and broth straight in. Then she opened a few drawers to find a spoon and added it to the bowl. Then she moved the pot to the sink, sprayed it with detergent, and ran the water until it was submerged. Finally, she took the bowl of Ramen to the living room and placed it on the table beside her recliner.

Turning around, she placed her hands on the arms of her recliner and lowered herself onto the soft but supportive cushion. She leaned back, then pulled the lever to raise the footrest. She took hold of the bowl of Ramen and carefully brought it in front of her. She secured the bowl against her chest with one hand, grabbed the spoon with her other and dipped it into the bowl. Finally, she brought the first spoonful to her lips. The taste of the broth on her tongue completely stole her focus. Her attention narrowed, and she began to wolf it down.

Before she knew it, she held the bowl to her lips and drank the remaining broth then licked her spoon clean. Setting them down on the table beside her, she swiped the back of her hand against her mouth and relaxed into the recliner. She closed her eyes and just breathed, enjoying the taste of food that lingered upon her tongue.

Eventually, she remembered that she had no plan yet. She had eaten something, and it was good, but now what? The only thing she could think of was to look around the house for something, she didn't know what. And so, she put the footrest back down and stood up from the recliner, her gaze taking in her surroundings. This was clearly a standard living room, and something told her she wouldn't store important documents there.
