Businesswoman Chapter 47

Park rangers had begun to talk amongst themselves. Like birds all atwitter, they spoke rapidly and then Chief Ranger Rynette Colsberg addressed them.

“I know this has been trying for the past few weeks. We’ve lost fifteen percent of our workforce. This has to be remedied. So, I’ve brought in some ladies you may be familiar with up to this point.” Rynette motioned for Loreen and Lisa to come to the stage. The group of rangers shot to their feet as if royalty graced the stage.

“I present to you Businesswoman and Businessgirl,” the chief stated.

“Please, take your seats,” Loreen mentioned.

“Now, we have the opportunity to influence people out of our state of Delaware to privatize these National Parks.”

Some grumbles rose up amongst the group like bubbles in a carbonated beverage.

Lisa spoke next. “I know some of you wish to keep the various lands owned by the government. We’re here to correct that. We’re here to show you another way. The State should not own any property. It is in our best interest to maximize opportunities and potential.”

Loreen used her hands when she spoke. “That’s right. The privatization of all of these parks especially in the First State will bring back those positions that saw elimination. Your pay and benefits will increase and we will have cleaner, safer parks across this land.”

A ranger jumped to her feet. “Excuse me, but won’t that mean the money grubbers will just buy up the land and pave it for some majestic parking lot?”

“No, just the opposite. The only money grubbers are those in government. They steal people’s money through taxation. With capitalists intent on keeping these spaces beyond the standards of bureaucrats, there’s a chance for flora and fauna.”

“Let’s thank Businesswoman and Businessgirl.”

They applauded.
