Amelia had been working late since Thursday’s were the busiest day of the week. Which meant the store was open late. Amelia owned a yoga studio with the store front being a bookstore. Yoga classes ran till 10 pm. She didn’t mind that as much because it meant she could hang out in the book section of the store and stalk shelves with the new arrivals. Plus, she lived just upstairs, so it's not like she had to travel very far to get home.

That and there’s usually some left over cupcakes and muffins that she bakes for the store front for the customers. On nights like this were Amelia works late; due to working a long day sometimes her magic gets out of hand. But Amelia has learned to try to navigate that by having a muffin appear beside her or try to use her magic to stalk shelves.

Besides her magic being extra on long nights at work, Amelia loved it. Except this particular night when she seen something- or someone at the corner of her eye. When she went to turn and confront the person Amelia realized it wasn’t a person but a shadow person. Before Amelia could do or say anything the shadow person had charged at her knocking her over and disappearing as she fell over. The fall had knocked her out and when Amelia woke it was nearly dawn.

Amelia was dazed and confused when Meredith came in for her shift at 6 am it thrown her off. Once Meredith saw that Amelia was on the floor she rushed over.

“Oh my god! Are you okay?” Meredith helped Amelia off the floor. “What happened? How long were you on the floor for?”

Amelia explained what she could remember from the night before.

“Oh my! What should we do? Call the police?”

“And tell them what? A shadow person attacked me?”

“Fair point but what are we going to do about the store today?”

Looking around and seeing that some of the shelves had falling over in the altercation and none of the inventory was complete. So, couldn’t really open the shop.

“Well, guess we’ll have to close shop for just today. Can you call the other employees to cancel their shifts and call the clients who are scheduled for yoga today? In the meantime, i’ll clean this up.”

Before Meredith could protest on Amelia lifting a finger, she already waved her hand and the store looked better then opening day.

After the shop was cleaned up and closed up for the day Amelia and Meredith sat in the back trying to figure out why the shadow person appeared and attacked Amelia. Reading basically every paranormal book in the shop and google search, a bottle of wine and 14 hours later; they found out that this shop was previously owned by a man in the 1800’s and he was involved in the witch hunt of Salem in 1878.

As they continued reading they found out that his wife was a witch and was scared that she might pass it on to the children. Not only did he burn his wife at the stack, he burned his children as well. He was head of the witch hunt.

When the witch trials ended the town seemed to go back as it was before the events. But the ghosts of his wife and children started to haunt him. This resulted in his death in 1882.

“Okay? But what does this have to do with you Ame?”

“Because I am a witch.”

Meredith didn’t know how to respond to this. Both Amelia and Meredith looked at each other in fea r.
