Verity Review -The Manuscript That Made Me Question Everything

I went into Verity thinking it was just another Colleen Hoover romance. I was so wrong. So disturbingly wrong.

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer who gets the opportunity of a lifetime: finish the bestselling series of Verity Crawford, a famous author who is now in a coma after a car accident. To do that, Lowen has to move into the Crawford house and go through Verity's notes.

That's when she finds it. Hidden in the office. A manuscript called "So Be It" - Verity's autobiography that was never meant to be read.

What I read in those pages made my stomach turn.

THE CHARACTERS YOU WON'T FORGET

Lowen is us. Anxious, insecure, falling for the wrong man at the worst time. You want to protect her and shake her at the same time.

Jeremy Crawford is the perfect husband on the surface. Handsome, grieving, taking care of his disabled wife and his 5-year-old son Crew. But why didn't he read his wife's manuscript before? What is he hiding?

Verity... oh Verity. Is she the villain who would hurt her own daughters for attention? Or is she the victim of a cruel husband who found her private writing exercise? The book never lets you decide.

And little Crew saying "Mommy isn't sick" will haunt you.

NO SPOILERS, BUT THAT ENDING

Colleen gives us two endings. The manuscript, and the letter. One makes Verity a monster. The other makes Jeremy a monster.

I finished Verity at 2:17 AM and I stared at the ceiling for an hour. I still don't know who to believe. That's the genius of it.

This is NOT a love story. This is a psychological thriller about obsession, motherhood, and how far we go to keep love.

My Rating: 5/5 - Unforgettable, disturbing, and impossible to put down.
