Reven: Across Golden Skies
Got sent my first advanced reader copy (ARC) from The Nerd Fam and was so freakin’ stoked! I really wish I could give it a glowing review, but sadly it’s only a ⭐️⭐️ for me. Based on the synopsis, I was ready to love this book, but alas. Ultimately, the concept was super clever and fun, but the execution left a lot to be desired.

The Fallen Avian Review
I was lucky enough to get sent this ARC and while it was a solid read, I was never utterly spellbound by it. The concept is super neat though and not one I’ve encountered before. Magic doesn’t really exist, and the only thing that’s fantastical is that some humans have earned wings, while others haven’t. It’s a clever way to draw a lot of parallels between race/class social divides. Expect plenty of commentary on that. And for my bird nerds out there, this one’s for you. There’s even vocal mimicry—bloody brilliant!

The Hanging Heart Review
This one was chef’s kiss ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The characters are complex with well-developed backstories and heaps of trauma to go around. I don’t know how people measure spice, but ”The Hanging Heart” has plenty of it (not until chapter 40 though; talk about a slow burn).
