Book Nerd has written an unofficial summary and analysis of The Minimalist Home by Joshua Becker. His reason for writing this 38-page Summary and Analysis of The Minimalist Home: A Room-by-Room Guide to a Decluttered, Refocused Life by Joshua Becker is to enlighten us. This book was published on January 26, 2019, and sold by Amazon Digital Services, LLC. The author Book Nerd has written 7 other books besides this one.
This book contains the following chapters:
Chapters 1-12 about the summary of the Minimalist Home
About Joshua Becker
Trivia Questions on The Minimalist Home and
Discussion Questions on The Minimalist Home
Book Nerd writes in his book that Joshua Becker says there are two benefits of owning less and they are it's a good place to come home to (you will appreciate what you have) and it's a good place to get out of (having less means fewer repairs and more time to think about the future). In this book, the author Book Nerd gives a summary of Joshua Beckers book and in some cases restates what he says in his book.
When starting to minimalize one should clean each room starting in this order living room, bedrooms, closets, bathrooms, laundry room, dining room, office, and storage areas. You should get the family involved and make it fun. If you need or want it then keep the item but get rid of it if it is a burden.
Owning less stuff can reduce stress and make cleaning your home easier and faster. The first step is to get rid of duplicate items that you have or use like clothing or dishes. Start cleaning the living room and ask if you need each item you clean. A way to know if you need it is to tuck it away for a month and if you don't use it get rid of it.
Book Nerd mentions what one can do with items you don't need anymore according to Becker:
1. Donate the items
2. Sell them
3. Throw them away or recycle them
Each of the chapters focuses on one specific room and gives steps on how to minimalize each room. There are a lot of useful tips on how to do it. He gives good advice on that you buy a home that your family needs not the biggest house just because you can afford it.
What I like about this book is that it is concise and to the point. It gives us the main points or focus of Joshua Becker's full-length book. There was nothing that I didn't like about this book. This book is great for readers who are thinking or are going to be minimalist. I loved this book because it speaks to me. I am in the process of being a minimalist. This is the ideal time for me to read this because in a few months, I will be moving and I like the phrase less is more.
