From Rock Bottom to Rising
How I Survived What Tried to Break Me
The roof over our head was cracked, and so was life. We didn’t have much — just enough to survive, and even dreaming felt like a luxury.
I grew up in a poor household, where the goal was simple: make it through the day. Somehow, I made it to college on a scholarship, hoping it would change our lives. Just before I could graduate, my father died — suddenly, without a warning. He left behind not just grief, but a mountain of debt.
A month later, I got my first job. I didn’t have time to mourn. I had to provide. We fixed our broken roof, cleared the debt, and I moved to a new city, chasing hope and opportunities.
Then life happened again.
I met someone. He made me feel safe… until I lost my job. I was shattered, but I bounced back in 15 days. That job shut down in 2 months. Still, I kept going.
In the middle of all this, he said I was “too emotional” and “too unavailable.” He cheated. And got married to someone else.
While I was still trying to breathe through heartbreak, my grandmother passed away. And then, I lost another job. Right now, I’m unemployed again.
But here’s the thing:
I’m still here.
Still breathing.
Still standing.
Strength isn’t about always winning. It’s about rising — even when life keeps knocking you down. And I’ve risen more times than I can count.
If you’re reading this while struggling — keep going. Your story isn’t over yet.
Neither is mine.
