Chapter 1

Traversing these once farmed lands, Abbie’s gazing rests on a faraway lone, barren tree in the emerald dewy morning grass of her homeland. Grieving her Leo feels like unexpected tricks playing pinball inside her brain. Constantly adjusting the aperture; closing in on the memorable moments of their real love. Kissing his neck, the indescribable b.o. of Leo while he kneaded bread dough: the most delectable monkeybread on an otherwise dull Sunday afternoon. What Abbie wanted to touch more than anything else in the world: the coziness of Leo’s gentle, yet thin lips kissing her goodbye each morning as he left for school to teach those loving and quirky teenage spirits. Her cracking lips in the crisp November morning air comforted Abbie’s loneliness now. Believing in heaven or hell was for the birds as far as Abbie was concerned. Imagining Leo lounging in a stardusted bed of clouds in a dimension where his body aches and collapsing aorta didn’t exist was way more believable to Abbie. All the idiotic and societally acceptable phrases like “He’s in a better place now” and “God has him now” gutpunched Abbie like a bully knocking the wind out of her during kindergarten recess. Catching a waft of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, Abbie felt this pulling sensation from the tips of her toes. Due North her feet raced and no one could stop her. No one.

Chapter 2

Pachi raced through Donna’s Cafe's dirty glass-paned door; tripping over his feet running past this woman who was taking her sweet ass time opening the same door. Jonesing to watch the new episode of Demon Slayer, Pachi’s mind was on one track, so no one stands in his way of anime. No one. The five regulars sitting in their usual spots felt like a dream for Pachi’s routine-like mind. AHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh, finally here. Prying his 2014 MacBook Pro laptop open, Pachi’s shoulders slid away from his ears; easing into his morning rituals. What is life without one’s rituals?
