Thrice Remade Movie NYT Crossword

"Thrice-remade movie...or when taken as six words, a hint to the theme clues in this puzzle", contains the answer A STAR IS BORN. At first glance, these answers appear out-of-place; for example: *Allot time" leads directly to an answer of ELECTION DAY. Election Day marks an abstract connection, yet does not fully align with this clue as written.

When we interpret it correctly as instructing us to replace stars with either an "N" or an "B," however, then its full significance becomes evident. This realization transforms "Allot time" to "Ballot time," more closely aligning with Election Day. Furthermore, when "*Ovid of Greek Mythology" was transformed with one letter instead of three to "Bovid of Greek Mythology", which referenced THE CRETAN BULL more directly.

David Kwong masterfully created this ingenious mechanism of replacing stars with specific letters to bring clarity to theme answers and reveal his intricate misdirection and wordplay - adding depth and enjoyment to his solving process and making solving not just challenging but immensely fulfilling as well!

Good work. I like doing crossword puzzles, but my favorite form of these kinds of puzzles are the KrissKross puzzles where you have the word list but you have to fit them into the puzzle form.
