Soul of Stone

Poem by Xinia Marie Estrada

SOUL OF STONE

For when you are no longer here,

I am forging a soul of stone,

an awakening in the half-light,

sheltering my fear in oblivion.

For when you are no longer here,

I am silently clearing an equation,

dispelling my anguish with your calm,

sensing a void in the morning.

And when I no longer feel your presence,

I will have invented serenity for my restless spirit.

I will seek your embrace among the rocks

and begin to dream of you

in the world where you are no longer in.
