Lighthouse

Lighting the way

With ruby red rays

To Mooloolaba Harbour

Freely sharing the limelight with

Incandescent, snow white beams

Silvery paths across rollicking waves

Silent sentinel stands watch o’er all

Inbound and out and all about.

Ray’s story on the Gormley artwork connects with Anne Yang’s tranquil ocean scene of one of my favourite places in the entire world. The Gormley reminds me of childhood holidays spent at my grandparents’ Sarina Beach home… carefree days wandering the seaweed strewn shoreline. Eyes stayed keenly peeled for scallop seashells, cat’s eyes and cowries. I dive into Anne’s painting and instantly time travel back to teenage years spent gazing into crystal clear rock pools and bounding from rock to rock. My dad called me a mountain goat. On my return trip through the tunnel of time, I stop off for a refreshing dip in the ocean, following a jaunt up to Point Cartwright on Kawana parkrun.

I’m honoured to claim Anne as a friend from my school days in Far North Queensland, Australia… just a few years decades ago. I’m in awe of her artistic talent and beautiful paintings.
