2026 Beauty Trends

Smudged makeup, tired eyes like you didn’t sleep for days, messy hair… Or saturated colours, lots of blush, shimmer, and maximalism. Which of the new 2026 beauty trends are you most excited to incorporate into your daily life?

Makeup was always used to cover imperfections and make us appear like we have the perfect face, at least on the internet. After all these years of trying to look perfect with the Clean Girl aesthetic, we are tired of looking all the same. We are desperate to be authentic and have a strong fashion and beauty appearance.

“Messy Girl”

The new trend is to be Authentic, live-in, and express a sense of uniqueness.

This new messy look resembles the 2000’s, where celebrities did not care to be seen as perfect. The makeup was sometimes in the wrong place and seen as “trashy chic”. Now the messiness is on purpose, smudged and messy in all the right spots (eye bags in evidence, strong lip colors, smudged eyeshadow, and no blush). It’s a trend that doesn’t focus on having lots of foundation or lots of concealer; it’s all about the eyes and the lips.

Cristina Aguilera in the 2000s

If you are in love with this new trend and want to incorporate it into your daily life, you can take inspiration from celebrities like Gabriette, who is a pioneer of this aesthetic. She has a few makeup tutorials on how to achieve this look. Another example is Charlie xcx with her iconic black eye pencil and unique energy of “I just got out of the club”.

Maximalist Trend

Glitter, futuristic mermaid vibe, fun colors, and a Lot of blush. That’s what describes this new Trend.

Everything to the max, with this trend, you can experiment, that’s not right or wrong, express what you feel with fun colors and glitter.

Zara Larsson is the biggest example of this new aesthetic- With a face full of pink blush, vibrant colors in the eyes, and outfits that mix dolphins, floral, sunsets, and a lot of textures.

To achieve this look, you need to have in mind the color palette and have a creative mind. The good part about this beauty trend is that more is better!

Opposite but similar

One thing we can notice about these two trends is that in both cases, the main focus is on the eyes and lips. But from different perspectives. the maximalistic with bold colors and creative forms, and the Messy with little to no colors and a constant state of tiredness.

In both trends, we see a secondary character- the perfect skin.

The clean girl aesthetic can be “out”, but the passion for skincare and flawless skin isn’t. So this year, you can count on the continuous growth of k-beauty between these trends. Because the skin is now a way of standing out in society, even if it was never this accessible to treat your skin at home as it is now.

I would love to hear your thoughts about these two contrasting trends and which one you are going to incorporate into your style.
