1 Article Could Change Your Whole Life
Literally

Yesterday, I spent two hours watching YouTube videos on creativity, and I stumbled upon a video featuring singer/songwriter/producer/composer, Marshia Ambrosius. If you don’t know who Marshia is; she’s one of the most successful British songwriters. She’s also written songs for Michael Jackson and many others.
In the video, Marshia explains how she wrote and produced the song “Butterflies” for Michael Jackson’s final studio album, Invincible. She explained how she didn’t write the song for Michael Jackson but he heard the demo and asked to work with her on producing the track for his album.
The interviewer asked if she was compensated nicely for the track, and she said she’s been able to live off the earnings of the track for years.
So, you see how one song, one article, one video, one piece of content could completely change your whole life.
This is why I’m obsessed with creating. I wake up and think about writing, creating videos, creating art, creating poetry. I can’t stop. Why? Because:
“Creativity is immortality” –Michael Jackson-
When you discipline yourself to create and share your art with the world, you become immortal. There will always be a piece of you written into the history books. You might not become as famous or successful as Michael Jackson or Marshia Ambrosius, however, your work might change one person’s life for the better.
So, this is why I encourage people to put their work out there.
Right now, I’m doing a creativity challenge called “The 75-Hard challenge for creators and artists” and it means that I must create post content daily on YouTube, Vocal, and my blog. It’s a full time job to post on three platforms daily, but I have to because I am content creation, and content creation is me.
I’ve been blogging since I was in college, and people thought I was completely crazy. They didn’t get it. They used to say:
“What the hell are you doing?”
When I would explain that I’m building my own mini empire from my bedroom, they would laugh so hard. Like, how is it possible to build a mini media empire from your bedroom? The truth is, I haven’t had a full-time office job for years because I chose to create my tiny online media company.
I can never see myself working a nine to five job, it just doesn’t fit my lifestyle anymore, I believe that I can change my life one article at a time, one video at a time, one audio piece at a time.
So, if you’ve been stalling, and avoiding putting your content out there, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and start publishing.
One silly video could put you on the map. One late night writing session could catapult you from unknown to prominent writer overnight. Some people say think that successful artists or creators woke up one day, put one thing out there and everything changed. While this is true, it’s also false.
That one thing did change everything because it was the the first step, but often creators release their content for years before anyone takes notice. It’s rarely an overnight success although it looks that way, it rarely is.
Look at artists such as rapper Doechii for example, you might think she popped up of nowhere, but she went from working a job at Chipotle to becoming a Grammy winning artist, but it didn’t happen overnight. She documented her journey on social media, but her first breakthrough came in 2020 with the success of her TikTok song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake”
It took a while for her to gain global stardom, but it happened after many sleepless nights, writing sessions, recording sessions, bucketloads of determination. So, you see, when you keep creating, one content piece could completely change the game for you.
I remember when I started writing on Medium, and I published 100 articles in a single month. One of those articles about vegan lifestyle in the black community went mega viral, and I went from an unknown writer to one of the most successful writers on the platform. I went from earning $5 a month to earning $5000 a month at one point, everything changed for me,
Prior to the 100 article challenge, I had published 1000s of articles online, and to date, I’ve published more than 15,000 articles on the Internet, probably more as well. I won’t stop because this is my eternal portfolio.
Are you scared of putting your creative stuff out there? Don’t be. Just create.
What are you waiting for? Create.
If you appreciate my art, buy me lunch here.
