If you're a gamer and old enough to have been alive back in the late 80s or early 90s (or were a child of that era), whether you asked yourself this question or not, many of you probably wondered yourself how long it took for Nintendo to develop and release their first handheld gaming system.

Let's go back in time and take a look at when the first game boy was released!

The first game boy was released in 1989

The first pokemon red and blue were released in 1996

Pokemon emerald was released in 2004

The first Game Boy was released in 1989, and it was the first handheld console to use interchangeable cartridges. It was also the first Nintendo product to feature a backlit color screen. The Game Boy had a monochromatic display that used shades of green. In 1996, Nintendo released Game Boy Pocket.

This version of the Game Boy had a smaller form factor than previous models and required fewer batteries. It also had a built-in light source to allow for play in dark conditions. In 1998, Nintendo released Game Boy Color — which added color graphics to the monochrome original model — as well as Game Boy Light, which could be used with any Game Boy model (but required an external light source).

Playstation 4 pro was released on 2016

The PlayStation 4 Pro is the latest gaming console from Sony. It was released on November 10, 2016, along with its sister console, the PlayStation 4 Slim. The PS4 Pro has more powerful hardware than the original PS4 and can run games at a higher resolution. It's also compatible with games that are designed to work with VR headsets like the PlayStation VR.

The PS4 Pro is available in 500GB and 1TB versions, as well as a special 2TB edition that's only available through Best Buy. The price ranges from $300-400 depending on which model you buy.

Playstation 2 was released on march 2000

The nintendo entertainment system (nes) was released in 1986.

The super nintendo entertainment system (snes) was released in the united states during 1991.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (abbreviated as SNES and also known as the Super Nintendo) is a 16-bit video game console developed by Nintendo that was released in 1990 in Japan, 1991 in North America and 1992 in Europe. In Japan, the system is called the Super Famicom, or SFC for short.

The console was the most popular of the fifth generation consoles in terms of worldwide sales, with 49.10 million units sold worldwide. The SNES was Nintendo's second home console to use a cartridge-based media format, following the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The final console to use cartridges was the Nintendo 64, released 21 years after its predecessor.

The SNES's main competitor was Sega's Mega Drive/Genesis, which had been released two years prior. The SNES has long been considered one of the greatest video game consoles ever made and continues to be popular among collectors and gamers alike.

The nintendo 64 (n64) console was released during 1996.

The Nintendo 64 (Japanese: ニンテンドウ64 Nintendō Rokujūyon, "Nintendo 64"), often abbreviated as N64, is Nintendo's third home video game console for the international market. Named for its 64-bit central processing unit, it was released in June 1996 in Japan and September 1996 in North America; March 1997 in Europe and Australia; September 1997 in France; December 1997 in Canada; April 1998 in South Korea; and November 1998 in China.

In contrast to the cartridges used by the Super NES and Game Boy, the N64 uses game paks or cards that resemble mini-CDs. The console's controller was one of the first to use analog sticks. Its games are well known for pioneering a number of features that became industry standards, including texture mapping, polygonal characters on 3D backgrounds, true 3D environments, and Dolby Surround sound.

The console was released to commercial success; however its production was ended prematurely with only three years before its successor's release. The N64's discontinuation also came at a time when many consumers were beginning to favor home computer entertainment over video gaming systems like Nintendo 64 or Playstation.

In a nutshell

While the first generation of game boy was released in Japan in 1989, it wasn't until 1990 that it was officially released in the United States. Our research shows that this popular handheld console was initially released with a red and white color scheme, though later iterations also included a few other color options as well.
