While institutions praise Bitcoin for its valuable storage capacity, the truth is that many companies accept it as a means of payment.

With the steady rise in the price and popularity of bitcoin, the mass adoption of the asset has increased in recent months. In addition to the notable names that buy BTC as a value store, many large and small companies have introduced bitcoin payments for their products as an alternative to the classic currency.

Tesla set the tone

Bitcoin has had an extremely convincing year, as institutional investors, banks and fund managers continue to support cryptocurrency in any form.

But long before it became a valuable asset to some, it was intended to serve as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. This narrative has been called into question over time, as many have refrained from using BTC as a form of payment.

However, the waves are turning and many companies around the world have already allowed bitcoin payments.

Probably the biggest name on this growing list is Elon Musk's Tesla. The electric vehicle giant bought $ 1.5 billion in bitcoin in January this year, but it didn't stop there. In just a few months, Tesla has announced that it will start accepting BTC payments for its cars and, more importantly, will store the funds in bitcoin instead of turning them into cash.

From Travel to Apple

The harsh consequences of COVID-19 have been catastrophic for tourism companies. However, Expedia, one of the world's leading online travel agencies, joined the BTC group a long time ago.

Recently, the corporation announced a partnership with Coinbase through which it started allowing Bitcoin payments. Some experts believe that this move would bring more flexibility to the company and help guide it in the difficult months ahead.

For its part, the technology giant Apple has informed that users can spend bitcoin through Apple Pay. According to the company, BitPay cards can now be added to the Apple Wallet. BitPay CEO Stephen Pair explained the innovation:

"We have thousands of BitPay Wallet customers using the BitPay card. The addition of Apple Pay and soon Google and Samsung Pay makes it easier to use your BitPay card in more places. ”

And the list goes on ...

Another world-renowned company on this list is PayPal. The US institution said that users in the country could buy, sell and hold several cryptocurrencies directly through their accounts starting this year.

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Rakuten is an e-commerce and online sales company. He remained a strong supporter of the potential of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and was one of the first large corporations to accept it as a form of payment.

Coca-Cola has announced a partnership with the digital asset platform Centrapay to enable Bitcoin as a payment option. The popular beverage brand has around 2,000 vending machines that accept BTC.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has also had a positive impact on some companies. One such example is the American e-commerce site Etsy. The company is popular with customers interested in handmade or vintage items and handicraft supplies.

Although Etsy does not currently have an automated system for accepting Bitcoin, providers may specify the acceptance of cryptocurrency in their ads to attract customers.

BTC also reaches the NBA and Premier League

Surprise or not, the adult site Pornhub has announced that it accepts Bitcoin and crypto for its premium membership. Digital assets have replaced Visa and Mastercard, which have ceased to support Pornhub.

Another report said that Luzboa, a Portuguese electricity trader, had decided to adopt Bitcoin as a form of payment. This innovation would allow Portuguese residents to pay their electricity bills using the primary cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin mania has even reached the Premier League in England. The Southampton professional team has said it will give BTC bonuses to its players instead of trust money. The "saints" will have access to performance-based bonuses at the end of each season and will be paid in digital assets.

Another sports team that pays its players in Bitcoin is the NBA giant Sacramento Kings, while the Dallas Mavericks will soon start accepting crypto to pay for subscriptions.
