Although Macs are generally considered to be reliable and durable, there is a certain set of issues that users commonly experience. One of these big issues is a connectivity problem and, namely, all sorts of issues related to the work of Bluetooth feature on Mac computers.

Still, it seems like the number of users facing these problems isn’t getting any smaller. Thus, this is still an issue that requires attention.

Ultimately, the manufacturer should do something to fix these problems in their devices. However, this is something we are hoping to observe in the overseen future. Until then, Mac users have to find available solutions themselves, and we hope that this post will come in handy.

Bluetooth On Mac: Common Issues

Long-time users of Apple devices most certainly have noticed how many moves this brand has made to allow its fans to get rid of unnecessary wires. The company has invested lots of time and money to create a unique user experience with the help of smart wireless accessories to its devices.

Today, Apple fans can equip their computers with a wireless keyboard, mouse, trackpad, speakers, headphones, etc. Without a doubt, it adds better experience and aesthetic. However, in some cases, these wireless accessories can cause you lots of headaches.

Some of the most common Bluetooth connectivity issue faced by users is unresponsiveness or lags of their wireless devices. Such an issue can be extremely annoying and worrying if you have no clue how to troubleshoot it. The good news is, whether you find your mouse, speakers, or other accessories unresponsive, in most cases, there is a simple fix, and we are going to tell you about some of them!

Simple Tips For Troubleshooting Bluetooth Problems On Mac

One of the biggest problems here is that, in most cases, a user can’t know for sure what causes Bluetooth issues. It could be a bug in a new OS X version, a hardware problem, or even physical damage. However, some handy troubleshooting tips can help in most situations:

  1. Disconnect everything from the device. One of the first things to try is disconnecting all your wireless devices and then connecting them again.
  2. Disable the feature. Often, fixing Bluetooth issues is as simple as turning it off and on again. To do this, go to the system preferences and find Bluetooth icon, then turn it off and wait for a few moments. Then, turn this feature back on and let all your accessories reconnect to see if it helps to solve your problem.
  3. Reset the PRAM. The parameter random access memory (PRAM) on your Mac stores a bunch of values and settings needed for the computer’s proper functioning. In many cases, resetting it can help solve pretty much any issue, so this fix is worth trying. To do this, turn your device off and hold the combination of Cmd+Option+P+R keys while the computer is rebooting. When the PRAM is reset, the device should chime twice – that’s how you know when you can release those keys.
  4. Reset Bluetooth Module. If it seems like you’ve tried everything and nothing helped you solve the issue, the last call would be to reset the Bluetooth module in your Mac. This fix is not too complicated, but it should help debug all types of problems:
  • Hold down Shift and Option keys, then click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar
  • Pick Debug and then click Remove all devices
  • Pick Debug once more and then choose Reset the Bluetooth module option
  • Restart the computer and connect your wireless accessories again to test if they work now

If this fix also doesn’t help, consider taking your Mac to the authorized specialist for a repair.
