China Tourism: A Dreamlike Journey (Part 1)
Hello friends, how are you all? For a long time, I had been thinking of sharing my China travel experience with you. Finally, that opportunity has arrived! A few days ago, I visited various historical and naturally beautiful places in China, and today I will tell you the story of that thrilling journey. I will try to bring the pictures of some amazing places I saw before your eyes. My journey began in Beijing, the capital of China. Beijing is not only the current capital of China, but it is also a center of ancient history and culture. As soon as I set foot here, it felt like I had traveled back thousands of years in a time machine. One of the most famous places in Beijing is the Great Wall of China. Its historical importance is immense, and its architectural style is also astonishing. I went to the Badaling section, which is about 70 kilometers away from Beijing city. I was stunned to see the vastness of this wall that stretches windingly over the hills. It felt like a giant python had cut through the heart of the mountains and extended far into the distance. Every brick of the wall seems to be a witness to time, countless wars, and countless ups and downs that this wall has seen. The view of the surrounding green hills from the top filled my heart. The cool breeze and the silence of nature created an extraordinary atmosphere. I lost myself in that vastness for hours. Another important place in Beijing is the Forbidden City. Once the residence of the Chinese emperors, this vast palace complex is a great example of architecture. The red walls and the intricate work of the golden roofs are a feast for the eyes. Entering inside feels like stepping into a fairytale kingdom. With various palaces, temples, and gardens, this city is so large that it is almost impossible to see it all in one day.Every corner of the Forbidden City hides the story of China's rich history. The lifestyle of the emperors, their reign, and the culture of that time—everything seems to come alive through the architecture and artwork here. I visited the Imperial Garden and various halls, where the belongings used by the former emperors are carefully preserved. Another amazing place in Beijing is the Temple of Heaven. It is a beautiful architectural monument where the emperors used to pray for good harvests. The circular roof and the ornate pillars are truly worth seeing. The calm and serene environment here brings peace to the mind. In the morning, many locals can be seen practicing Tai Chi and other exercises here. After Beijing, my destination was Shanghai. While Beijing is the bearer of ancient traditions, Shanghai is the reflection of modern China. Skyscrapers, dazzling lights, and a fast-paced lifestyle—Shanghai is like another world. One of the most attractive places in Shanghai is The Bund. It is a historic waterfront area located on the west bank of the Huangpu River. In the evening, when the skyscrapers here light up, an extraordinary scene is created. The modern architecture of the Pudong area across the river also looks amazing in the night lights. Walking along the Bund and having coffee at a riverside cafe is truly an unforgettable experience. Another modern architectural marvel in Shanghai is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Its spherical design and height have made it one of Shanghai's landmarks. Climbing to the top of the tower offers a panoramic view of the entire Shanghai city. The city at night seems like a gathering of stars. To get a touch of old Shanghai, one should visit the Yu Garden. It is a traditional Chinese garden with beautiful ponds, rockeries, and exquisite architecture. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this peaceful garden is a haven of tranquility. In this first part of my China travel blog, I shared with you some of the main attractions of Beijing and Shanghai. These two cities are a wonderful blend of China's history, culture, and modernity. In the next part, I will bring you the stories of some more amazing places in China. I hope you enjoyed my travel blog. If you have any questions, you can let me know in the comment box. See you again very soon; until then, take care! (To be continued...)

The Old Man and the Snake
In a quiet village nestled between two great hills, there lived an old man named Arun. He was a solitary figure, with a long white beard and eyes that had seen too much of the world. His cottage, made of stone and wood, stood at the edge of the forest, where the trees whispered ancient secrets and the wind carried stories lost to time. Arun spent his days tending to his garden and talking to the animals. Some villagers said he had once been a scholar, others claimed he was a healer, but no one truly knew. What they all agreed upon was that Arun was wise, kind, and carried a sadness that no one dared ask about. One summer morning, as the sun pierced through the mist, Arun found a snake curled near the edge of his garden. Its scales shimmered like polished copper, and its eyes, though reptilian, held a strange intelligence. Most would have run or tried to kill it, but Arun simply stood still. “You must be lost,” he said softly. The snake raised its head, unthreatening. To his surprise, it spoke. “I am not lost. I have come to you, old man.” Arun blinked, unsure if he was dreaming. “Why me?” “Because you once knew mercy,” said the snake. “And I have need of it again.” Intrigued, Arun invited the snake inside. He gave it a place by the hearth and a bowl of milk. Days passed, and the snake remained, watching him silently, occasionally speaking in riddles or asking deep questions about life and time. Arun, too lonely to question his good fortune, welcomed the company. One evening, the snake told its tale. “Long ago, I was a man. A prince, full of pride and hunger for power. I betrayed my brother to take the throne, but the gods saw my treachery. They cursed me to crawl on my belly until I found someone who could show true mercy—the kind I never gave.” Arun listened, silent for a long time. Finally, he said, “And you think I am that someone?” “I know you are,” said the snake. “You spared me. You showed kindness without reason. That is rare.” Arun stood and walked to the fire. “There was a time I too was proud. I was a soldier. I took lives without question. One day, I met a boy, no older than sixteen, trembling on the battlefield. He dropped his sword and begged for mercy. I raised mine... then dropped it. I couldn’t do it. I let him go.” The snake looked up. “What became of him?” “I don’t know,” said Arun. “But I never picked up a sword again. I left the army, left everything. Mercy changed me too.” The room was quiet. The fire crackled. Then the snake hissed, not in threat, but in transformation. Light engulfed it, and in its place stood a young man, regal and sorrowful. “You have broken the curse,” he said. “Your mercy has freed me.” Arun took a step back, stunned. “And now?” “I must return to my kingdom, if it still exists. But first, I owe you a debt.” “You owe me nothing,” said Arun. “Go live a better life.” The man bowed deeply. “Then at least accept this—” He placed a small, glowing gem on the old man’s table. “It will keep you warm and fed until the end of your days. And when your time comes, may you be remembered not as a soldier, but as a man who chose mercy.” With that, he left, disappearing into the forest. Years passed, and Arun grew older. He never saw the prince again, but the gem did as promised—his crops never failed, and his health remained strong. Villagers came to him for wisdom, and children sat by his feet for stories. When he passed away peacefully in his sleep, the entire village mourned. They carved into his gravestone a single line: "Here lies the man who once spared a life and changed the course of two." And deep in the forest, by a ruined stone palace, a new king lit a candle each year in memory of the old man who had taught him what it meant to be human.
