social media
The tech industry makes the social media world go 'round; explore the technologies that keep us all connected.
Your Social Media Consumption
In today’s society, we spend lots of time on social media, whether it be from our computers or mobile devices. We can instantly log into our social media profiles whether it be from home, in between two back to back classes, or during a brief lunch break at work. Whether you post often on social media platforms, or simply just read the posts of others, social media has a tendency to take up a lot of our free time. Sometimes, taking a break from it may be necessary.

Why You Should Quit Social Media
Social media has been in our lives for quite some time, helping us make more money, communicate with each other, and do things faster. This explains why 77% of Americans have a social media profile. As the appeal for social media grows, skeptics of its benefits grow also; and why wouldn't they, as people who used to want to go off the grid are now posting their lives on Instagram? So, am I one of those skeptics who have no notifications on their phone? Yes. Before you make your assumptions about who typed this article, I am not some 50-year-old women with a blackberry; I'm the complete opposite, a teenager with an iPhone. A teenager with an iPhone who has spent a year off of social media and doesn't live under a rock. Yes, this teenager is telling you to quit social media.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram: What Next?
This is an article about all of the social networks out now. What will be next? I hope you all enjoy! There are so many social networks out there right now, and it is becoming too much of a hassle to have so many accounts in so many places at once, so what is the best social network out there that will help your business, blog, and help you keep in touch with your friends, family, and co-workers? Well my friend that’s when twitter comes in. Twitter is the best social networking spot on the internet right now, so for those of you who do not have a twitter, I suggest you get one.

100+ Contemporary Figurative Artists on Instagram
I spend most of my day on social media working for a group of figurative artists who are constantly being banned because, many times, the nude comes into play into their paintings. Some of the artwork is so realistic that the bots can't tell the difference between a painting and a photograph. Figurative artwork varies from hyperrealism to abstracts. I don't blame the robots for thinking a painting by Anne-Christine Roda of a full frontal nude is not a photograph or a hyperrealism painting by Eloy Morales is not a real floating baby.

Behind a Screen
Behind a screen... Everything is easier from behind a screen, it's easier to hide, to ignore, to hurl abuse at people, virtual strangers. It's easier to speak out, because at the end of it? It's all from behind a screen. No one knows you, no one cares to know you. Why go out into the world and meet people when you can meet people over the internet, right? You don't even have to leave the comfort of your home. The world has become far too digital, I'm not even two decades old, but the younger generations make me feel older. I remember going out with my friends and playing hopscotch, or making mud pies, or climbing trees, doing kid stuff, you know? All the children of today know are computer screens and iPhones. The only thing they worry about is how many likes and followers they have on Instagram, or who's prettier. They don't understand the word socialise, they text back and forth without even really knowing who they're speaking to. After all, there's more to a person than just a face and name, right? The world is a lot more dangerous than people think, however I'm starting to wonder, maybe the digital world is far more dangerous, physically and mentally, especially to children. I have a 13-year-old niece, and to be honest I've never been more disappointed in technology. Because of technology she has been through far too much. Bullying is bad and hurtful. When I was younger I was bullied greatly, but I found comfort in my home, where the walls seemed like an impenetrable fortress in which no one could hurt me. My niece doesn't have that, she comes home to a place that is supposed to be her safe haven, and is still verbally abused by people over the internet and social media. Because just as it's perhaps safer behind a screen, it's also far more dangerous...
