Social media is trying to Control Us

We shall not be silenced

I feel like social media does try to control or else looks and opinions so that we will become a more politically correct society. Facebook heads already got busted for the way they use and place ads that do not correspond with their belief systems. However, I do not believe that it should not be the role of social media platforms. I think social media platforms should be like Switzerland and have no public opinion about anything being posted on their websites? If you are going to say these websites are geared towards adults, then the conversation should be free-flowing without restrictions. Isn't that why we have freedom of speech? Isn't that why we say social media platforms are not responsible for the things being posted on their website? Just last week, YouTube took down a thumbnail picture to one of my videos, because they said it violated their policies. Here is the image and question; please keep in mind that this standard YouTube website is supposed to be geared towards adults. I don't believe that this picture is racy by any means. I know that a couple of fellow YouTube creators were complaining that they were not able to say Coronavirus or COVID-19 without fearing that their video would be taking down. As a YouTube creator, how can we not talk about something that is affecting the whole world? How can YouTube have a double standard in place that their Standard YouTube platform is not for kids, but they want to force you to make all channels Family-friendly? If I want to trade YouTube channel that wants to talk about S&M and sex toys and how they use them; I should be allowed to do this, since YouTube is for adults. Now, if YouTube, what is creators to put various disclaimers on the channel, I can agree to that quickly, but I can't admit to being overly policed like YouTube. So many other social media platforms are trying to do.

Protecting everyone's feelings and points of view, you are going to create and maladjusted pansy, and the first time somebody disagrees or hurts their feelings hurt, they are going to go bat shit crazy. I feel social media should be a place where are you can express opinions and ideas no matter how unpopular. However, as a content creator, I believe we should have tools to block people when they become unruly. I think that is the responsibility of the content creator to decide who is shell be blocked, not the social media platform. The internet was not meant to be policed by public opinion. The internet is supposed to be an open-source. Social media has too many rules and guidelines as to what you are allowed to say. For example, it is not politically correct to say you don't support gay, but some people cannot, because of their Core beliefs in the Bible. I don't care what your sexual orientation is, but some people can't except that lifestyle because of their religious beliefs. I don't think that it's Okay for Society to tell us what is acceptable. Nowadays, you say one politically incorrect thing, and your career is ruined in seconds. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and the right to express thoughts and ideas. You definitely should not be allowed to incite violence just because you do not believe and someone else's point of view. I do find that society needs to toughen up a little bit and that be so easily offended and triggered. I think as a whole, generally speaking, we have become too needy in our quest to be validated.
