Perion Lands Best Buy Canada as a Full-Stack Partner in Push to Expand Retail Media Infrastructure
Best Buy Canada adopts Perion's full-stack platform to modernize in-store retail media with programmatic DOOH.

Retail media is no longer confined to websites and mobile apps. As advertisers seek more ways to engage consumers closer to the point of purchase, retailers are increasingly investing in technology that turns their physical stores into measurable advertising environments. Digital-out-of-home (DOOH) networks have become a key part of that strategy, blending the reach of brick-and-mortar retail with the precision of programmatic advertising.
Perion is betting that integrated technology will be central to that evolution. The company announced that Best Buy Canada has selected Perion as its full-stack technology partner to power the retailer's programmatic in-store digital signage network, an agreement that establishes one of the largest SSP-enabled retail DOOH networks in Canada.
The partnership also reflects Perion's broader strategy of expanding beyond individual advertising solutions to provide the infrastructure that supports modern retail media operations.
Modernizing the In-Store Advertising Experience
Retailers have long used digital screens inside stores to promote products and brand campaigns. However, many of those networks still rely on fixed content rotations that offer limited flexibility and minimal performance visibility.
Best Buy Canada is moving away from that model by implementing Perion's integrated advertising platform, which includes its Ad Server, Supply-Side Platform (SSP), and Header Bidding technologies. The system enables advertising decisions to be made impression by impression, allowing campaigns to be bought programmatically and optimized dynamically rather than through pre-scheduled loops.
The result is intended to improve monetization while providing advertisers with reporting capabilities that more closely resemble those available across digital media.
"Perion provides the technology foundation to help modernize and scale our in-store media offering," said Thierry Hay-Sabourin, Senior Vice President - Ecommerce, Marketplace & Marketing, Best Buy Canada. "A programmatic-first, loopless model enables more effective, measurable experiences for brands and agencies, while unlocking the valuable advertising moments that our in-store environment offers."
Retail Media Continues to Evolve
The retail media sector has grown rapidly as merchants recognize the value of their customer data and shopping environments. While e-commerce advertising remains the largest segment, retailers are increasingly looking to extend those capabilities into physical locations where purchase decisions are often made.
For Best Buy Canada, whose nationwide footprint includes hundreds of stores, in-store screens represent premium advertising inventory that can now be integrated into the broader programmatic ecosystem.
The move reflects a broader industry trend toward integrating online and offline media channels, enabling advertisers to plan campaigns more efficiently while giving retailers additional ways to generate revenue from existing assets.
As physical retail becomes more digitally connected, technologies that enable automation, measurement, and real-time optimization are becoming increasingly important.
An Integrated Technology Strategy
The agreement is notable not only for its scale but also for the breadth of technology being deployed. Rather than adopting a single advertising solution, Best Buy Canada will implement Perion's full technology stack, consolidating multiple functions into a single platform.
For Perion, this supports a strategy centered on deeper platform integration with enterprise customers. By providing several layers of advertising infrastructure rather than standalone products, the company aims to strengthen customer retention and increase the long-term value of each relationship.
The approach also reflects a broader shift among enterprise technology buyers, many of whom are seeking unified platforms that reduce operational complexity and simplify system management.
Building a Repeatable Model
Beyond the immediate deployment, Perion sees the partnership as evidence that its platform can support large-scale retail media networks across multiple markets.
The company believes the combination of programmatic capabilities and integrated infrastructure provides a framework that other retailers can adopt as they expand their own in-store advertising businesses.
"By serving as a foundational infrastructure for a market leader such as Best Buy Canada, we demonstrate that our Perion One strategy allows us to win complex, enterprise-level mandates," said Tal Jacobson, CEO of Perion. "We are creating a repeatable playbook to modernize retail media networks globally, ensuring sustainable growth and deeper strategic relationships with high-value partners."
As retail media matures, the conversation is shifting from simply adding advertising inventory to building technology ecosystems that support long-term growth. The partnership between Perion and Best Buy Canada illustrates how retailers are increasingly viewing their stores as connected media platforms, with programmatic technology helping bridge the gap between physical shopping experiences and the digital advertising economy.
