Where do you think the safest and most trusted place to keep secrets? The answer is in the dead. Yes, keeping secrets with the dead cannot be treason. But what about storing digital data? Where is the safest place?

Not a computer, not a cellphone, and not a flash or CD. But on the internet. Why? Because compared to other places to store digital data, keeping it on the internet is much safer from damage. You can also access it anywhere and anytime as long as there is an internet connection. One of the digital data storage places is called Google Drive.

It would be outrageous if you, as a millennial generation, don't know what Google Drive is. Just read my article: Definition and Function of Google Drive. I'm not going to explain here because I'm going to make you a little more advanced. Here, I will share how to upload files and folders on Google Drive.

Storing Digital Data on Google Drive

Google Drive provides free virtual space to its users. Each user gets up to 15GB of space per account to fill in digital data.

The data type can be in text files such as PDF, excel, doc, and others. It can also be in the form of applications such as apk, exe, and others, or it can be Audio and Video with the format 3gp, MP4, MKV, MP3, WebM, and so on.

In this way, you can store various files, photos, and video memories and work in your documents. The only requirement is to have an account on Google Drive. This space can also be added by buying from Google. In terms of price, it's cheaper when compared to Apple's iCloud.

How to Upload Files to Google Drive Easily

Using the free space Google Drive provides for users to store digital data in the cloud is very easy. All you need to do is follow the guide that I provide to upload files to Google Drive below.

  1. Make sure you already have a google mail account. This is an absolute requirement because those with an account can only enjoy the free hosting service of 15GB on Google Drive if you are confused about creating a Gmail account.
  2. Not a browser and enter Google Drive by typing the following URL or just clicking the address http://drive.google.com
  3. Then click Visit Google Drive as shown below.
  4. Please sign in with your Gmail account. Start by entering your Gmail address, then click Next.
  5. Continue by entering the password and clicking next.
  6. You will immediately go to the front page of your Google Drive. To save files on Google Drive, start by clicking New in the upper left corner. See the image below.

  1. You will see several options, one of which is Upload File. That's what you have to click on.
  2. Then you will be redirected to the file explorer; please find the file you want to upload. Then click Open. Wait until the file upload process is complete. This time I tried to upload the trailer video file for Attack on Titan Season 3. This is one of my favorite anime. Especially the action shown.
  3. To see the file you just uploaded, you can click Recent. As proof, you can see the trailer video for Attack on Titan Season 3 is already on my Google Drive.

So take it easy. It's just you; what do you want to do with the files you have uploaded. Do you save it, or you share it with your friends. To share it, you have to share the URL.

How to Upload Folders to Google Drive

Besides uploading files, you can also upload folders. The plus is, you can make your stored files tidier because it is located in one folder. So the file is not fragmented and easy to organize. For now, here I explain:

  1. Start by going to http://drive.google.com. Continue by logging in using a Gmail account as the method I have explained in sections 1 to 5 in the subtitle section How to Upload Files to Google Drive Easily.
  2. After that, click New, located at the top left; please see the image below.
  3. You will see several options, one of which is the Upload Folder. Go ahead and click on that word.
  4. Next, you will be directed to your computer's storage media. Please find the folder you want to upload to Google Drive, then click OK if you have determined. For this time, I will try to upload the Videos folder in the download section of computer storage only. Incidentally, in it, there is only one video—namely the video trailer for Attack On Titan Season 3.
  5. Then wait until the upload process is complete. Only then can you see the results.

So that's how to upload files and folders to Google Drive. Very easy, right? You can use the method above both on a laptop and a cellphone. Both are easy for you to do. If you need additional space, feel free just to make a purchase. To be sure, cloud-based storage is handy and safe.

If there is still something that needs to be discussed or confused about how to do it, please write it in the comments column. I will answer it for you.
