• The MBR of the hard disk is damaged.

• ...

Now, let’s see how to get rid of the "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically" error message.

Solution 1: Remove Peripheral Devices

Anything plugged into the computer may make the computer work extremely difficult and cause it to run slowly. To fix the “Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically” issue, we need to unplug all items inserted into the PC, such as external hard drives, SD cards, and printers. Then, we can restart the PC to see if the issue has been fixed.

Solution 2: Run Bootrec.exe

Since the boot error is often caused by a missing BCD, rebuilding BCD is often a good solution. We can use Command Prompt to fix the error to restart our computer. First, we should prepare a bootable CD/DVD/USB flash drive.

Step 1: Connect the bootable CD/DVD/USB flash drive we prepared to the PC. And then boot our computer from the bootable media.

Step 2: After language, time, and keyboard selection, choose Repair Your Computer.

Step 3: Select the OS to be repaired and click Next.

Step 4: Click Command Prompt. Then input diskpart.exe and press Enter to run as administrator.

Step 5: Enter the following commands in order and press Enter after each to run these commands:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

Step 6: Windows will perform an automatic scan and try to rebuild the BCD file. Finally, restart our PC.

Solution 3: Run CHKDSK

If we are meeting the"Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically" issue, we can run Windows CHKDSK to repair it.

Step 1: Click Start, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

Step 2: In the Command Prompt window, type the chkdsk /f /r command with the drive letter of the target drive that we want to scan. For example, chkdsk C: /f /r. Then, press Enter.

Solution 4: Run Windows SFC Tool in Safe Mode

SFC is a tool that can scan our system and repair any corrupted files. Since our computer can’t boot normally, we should run the SFC tool in Safe Mode.

Step 1: Restart our computer and hold F8 until the Advanced Boot Options window appears.

Step 2: Choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

Step 3: In the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter to execute it.

Step 4: After successfully running the command, restart our computer.

After that, the “Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically” error should be solved.

Solution 5: Clean Boot the PC

If the above solutions are not working, we can load our computer in safe mode and try to clean boot our computer.

Step 1: Press the Win key + R key together to open the Run dialog box. Then, type msconfig in the box and press Enter to open System Configuration.

Step 2: Then, go to the Boot tab. Navigate to Boot options, check the Safe boot option, and set the option as Minimal. After that, click Apply to save changes.

Step 3: Then, navigate to the Services tab. To hide all Microsoft-related services leaving behind all the third-party services, check the Hide all Microsoft services option. To disable all the third-party services, click the Disable all button. Click Apply to save changes.

Step 4: Go to the Startup tab. Select all of the present services and click the Disable all button and click Apply to save changes.

Step 5: Then, restart our PC in the normal mode.

Useful Suggestion: Back up the System
