GIF is a great way to share funny moments and memes. But sometimes you’ll need a text to make the viewers understand what’s going on in the GIF. The text should be right on the time point, short, and easy enough to undetstand.

Adding text to a GIF is an easy task, and you can definitely do it yourself to customize your GIF with text within a few steps. In the following parts, I’m going to show you how to add text to animated GIF with simple steps.

Best Way to Add Text to GIF

To add text to GIFs, you’ll need a tool that can load GIF files and edit them. Then the tool is required to have text options. It’d be better if it has both static text and animated text. The good news is you can get all these features in TunesKit AceMovi. This tool allows you to import as many GIFs as you want and add text to them right away with multiple text options.

TunesKit AceMovi Video Editor is a versatile video editor that provides multiple effects and transitions. It comes with a screen recorder which can record images as well as the sound coming out of your computer. As a well-established video editor, AceMovi is mounted with features like split screen, filters, animations, texts, and music library. The user-friendly interface comes with all the effects and tools you need to embellish your video. WIth multiple text options, you can directly add static or animated text to a GIF with one click.

Next up, I’m going to show you how to add text to a GIF in TunesKit AceMovi. Before you edit your GIF, make sure that you have already installed TunesKit AceMovi on your computer, this software currently supports Windows and Mac systems.

Step 1 Add GIF File to TuneKit AceMovi

Open TunesKit AceMovi on your computer, then import your GIF files to the media box. You can click on the import button to upload or directly drag and drop the files into the box.

Step 2 Add GIF to the Timeline

To add your GIFs to the timeline, you can directly drag and drop them one by one. Or you can press Ctrl+A to select all the GIF files and drag them to the timeline. To adjust the order of the GIF pictures, directly drag the media you want to change and drop it to the place you want. This won’t cover the original media so you don’t have to add the file from the media box again.

Step 3 Add Text to Your GIF

After adding GIF pictures to the timeline, you can now edit them in AceMovi. On the left bar, you can find the text icon and drag one of the text templates into the timeline. There’re Static and Dynamic texts for you to choose, you can try any one of them and add it on top of your GIF.

To adjust the position of the text, drag the edges of the text on the preview window. On the top right panel, you can change the text, font, color and size.

To make the text perfectly synchronize with the GIF, you’ll need to play the video a few times to adjust the GIF along with the text.

Step 4 Export GIF as Video

Once done editing your GIF, click the Export button on the middle left and export your GIF as a video file. Click the Settings, you’ll be able to choose the output parameters. And by clicking the Change button, you can change the output location.

Step 5 Share Your GIFs

After exporting the GIFs, you can now share them on your social media. Since they’re exported as video files, you can share them on popular video sharing platforms like Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube.

Alternative Way to Add Text to GIF

Ezgif is an online image text editor which offers the feature to write text over a GIF image without affecting the original animation. Upload your GIF to this online tool, then you can start adding text to your GIF. Your GIF will be split into multiple parts and these parts will be listed chronologically, then you can add text at any specific point.

Though it’s easy to add text to GIF in Ezgif, there’re some drawbacks to this online tool:

1. There’re only a few fonts to choose from.

2. Text can only be aligned to left, right or center.

3. Text can not be animated.

4. You can’t preview your text as you change the parameters.

5. Frequently fails to export.

To sum up, you can easily add text to GIF in TunesKit AceMovi and the online tool Ezgif. But if you want to get the most creative control over your GIF, TunesKit AceMovi is undoubtedly the better choice. In AceMovi, you can import as many GIF pictures as you want and edit them on the timeline. You can add text to the GIF at any precise time point and edit the text to fit perfectly into the GIF.
