It is not always clear that why Alexa won't connect to Wi-Fi. Sometimes it is necessary to restart the router or modem or the WI-FI signal may be getting blocked by any physical object. Whatever the root cause of the problem is these troubleshooting steps will help you to fix this issue easily. So let’s start the ball rolling!

1) Check your internet Connection: Sometimes Alexa doesn't have trouble connecting to your router, but there can be possibility that the connection to your router from internet service provider is down. So before you start tweaking with the settings in the app or pressing buttons on the device, quickly double check if your internet connection is working or not. You can verify that by grabbing your cell phone or any other device that is connected on the same network and open any web page using the web browser. This will inform you whether the problem is with your Echo or router. If you can`t open web pages, that indicates the problem with your home Wi-Fi network.

2) Power Cycle your WiFi router: If your internet is working fine, then the problem could be with your wireless router. So before you start modifying Alexa settings, give your router a quick power cycle. The process to power cycle a router is different for each model, but the general concept is always the same. Just turn it off, for about 30 seconds for everything to get clear, and then turn it back on. Remember that by doing this, anyone connected to your router will also lose the signal. 3) Power Cycle Your Alexa Device: If your wireless network appears to be fine, then it’s the time to do the power cycle with your echo device. As there is no power button on the echo device so you have to unplug it from the main socket directly. Wait for about 30 seconds once it has no power, then plug it back in again and check if that resolves your issue.

4) Re-Enter the Router Details You Provided to Alexa: Sometimes the echo device and router are working fine, but there can be possibility that the router information you provided to your device doesn't work as well as it should be. As a result, repeating the router setup process again may help Alexa remove whatever she's stuck on and can bring your device back online. Similarly, if you or someone else has changed the password on the router, it will cause the disconnection of all the current connected devices. This is because they are still trying to access using an an old password that no longer works. If this has just happened, you will need to set up the router details on your Alexa again and give it a new, correct password.

5) Change the Alexa Device Connection Band: If your router supports 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, you can try switching devices from one band to another. Since, the 2.4 GHz band has a better range, so switching to it from the 5GHz band may provide the device with that extra boost in signal strength that it requires.

6) Reposition the Alexa Device or Router: If your router and Alexa devices are a little far apart, make sure they are close enough to maintain a solid connection. Both devices should be at a max. distance of 10 meters or 30 feet’s. Also make sure that both devices should be away from any source of interference such as baby monitors, cordless phones, microwaves, brick walls etc as they are a signal killers and can block wifi signals.
