Solution 1) Manually review the Internet Explorer settings

  • At first, exit out QuickBooks Desktop if you are working with it.
  • Select the Internet Explorer web browser, click on the Tools menu, and then choose the Internet Options option.

Note: If you are unable to locate the Tools menu, press the Alt key.

  • Go to the Security tab and then click on the Globe icon.
  • Set the security level as Medium-high.
  • Move on to the Connections tab, checkmark the Never Dial a connection checkbox if you are not using the dial-up node (DUN) on the computer, or choose the right ISP if you are using DUN.
  • Hit the OK button.
  • Click on the LAN Settings button and select the automatically detect settings option.
  • Check whether the Use a Proxy Server checkbox is clear or not.

Note: If the Use a Proxy Server checkbox is marked, make sure to document the complete address and port.

  1. If the port is set as port 80, uncheck the Use a Proxy Server checkbox for testing purposes.
  2. If the port is different than port 80, let the Use a Proxy Server checkbox be marked.
  • Hit the OK button.
  • Move on to the Advanced tab and click on the Restore Advanced Settings button.
  • Under Settings, look for the Use TLS 1.2 checkbox, and select it.

  • Press Alt + F4 keys on the keyboard to close down Internet Explorer.

  • Select the Windows Start menu, type “Windows Firewall” in the search box, and open Windows Firewall.
  • Choose the Advanced Settings option from the left panel.
  • Right-click the Inbound Rules option and select the New Rule option.
  • Select Port and then hit the Next button.
  • Checkmark the TCP checkbox and then type the port number as per the version of QuickBooks Desktop in the Specific local ports: field.
  • Hit the Next button.
  • Select the Allow the Connection option and then hit the Next button.
  • If prompted, ensure to checkmark all profiles and then select Next.
  • Create a new rule and give it a name in the following format: “QBPorts(year).”
  • At last, hit the Finish button.
  • Once you are done creating inbound rules, create outbound rules following the aforementioned steps in the same order, except you need to select Outbound Rules instead of Inbound Rules.
