It was December 2021 when I decided to finally invest some money in crypto. Listening to various crypto influencers on social media convinced me to pick certain cryptocurrencies and hold on to them. The market was at the peak of a bull run and everyone promoting crypto seemed euphoric. Suddenly, the Ukraine War happened and the market took a massive deep dive. But it wasn't only that. The TERRA LUNA fiasco followed later in May and if that wasn't enough, the FTX debacle came to make everyone ponder if crypto is, indeed, a scam.

With all these events unfolding, the tune of social media influencers changed. Suddenly, crypto was a scam, a hopeless investment to stay away from, while thousands of crypto-haters would comment under various crypto articles about how right they were and how crypto investors were fools, holding on to thin air. My experience wasn't the best either. Before the LUNA fiasco happened, I had a small investment in it, and I watched as it slowly evaporated to oblivion. My promising portfolio became money that I should've better spent on a grocery store, especially with all the inflation that would follow later.
Yet, I didn't budge. All that sudden fear-mongering targeted at newbie investors made me suspicious. Every basic investor knows that in the market, there's a bull run and a bear run. Well, to the naysayers, I have to say that we were simply at the start of the bear run and it was up to us to be patient and wait for the bull run. So far, there have been multiple bear traps and now we have finished going through a bull trap. Complications have risen again, with the SEC searching like a bounty-hunter for a possible security case. Not to mention multiple project and wallet hacks that have taken place.
Well, nobody said the market game would be easy but it's worth waiting for a potentially life-changing bull run.

So, why should one hold onto their cryptocurrency when confronted with tumultuous market conditions? The first answer lies in the potential for extraordinary gains. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum have shown incredible growth over the years, despite the occasional dips. Just look at Bitcoin's journey, from being practically worthless to reaching all-time highs of over $60,000 per coin. So many newbie investors who didn't have the patience to just embrace the lows lost a life-changing opportunity. A successful crypto investment can pay someone's urgent loan or it can even buy a house.
With this in mind, we need to explore the perspective of the mature investor. The most successful investors understand the importance of patience and perspective. They don't get rattled by short-term price fluctuations. Instead, they zoom out and look at the bigger picture. They understand that cryptocurrency is still in its early stages, and its true potential is yet to be fully realized. Mistakes happen, as many coins do not live up to their hype and the investor should make significant research to sort of catch the big fish.
Moreover, quitting the investing game altogether means missing out on new opportunities. Cryptocurrency is a rapidly evolving space, and new projects with groundbreaking ideas emerge all the time. By staying engaged and keeping an eye on the market, you position yourself to identify the next big thing and potentially ride it to the moon. Consider yourself a conscious bystander. As someone who goes about their life, working, and paying their bills but also scanning the crypto market for opportunities. Research your favorite projects well and contemplate your next move with the necessary stoicism.
All in all, the game of patience seems to be the optimal one. Significant world events happen all the time and could influence the markets in a negative way, but when it's crypto's time to shine, it will shine brighter and be unstoppable. By staying invested and weathering the storms, you have the chance to see your initial investment grow exponentially. The power of compound interest, combined with the potential for future market growth, can lead to life-changing returns. Just imagine the possibilities of holding onto your crypto for a few more years or even a decade. It could be the ticket to financial freedom and a secure future.
