After Musk took control of Twitter, the user with the most followers, Barack Obama, lost a significant number of followers.

People have been departing Twitter at alarmingly high rates ever since Elon Musk purchased the company. There have been reports indicating that prominent users' follower counts, such as those of former President Barack Obama and Katy Perry, have been witnessing a dramatic decline in the number of followers.

Since Monday, President Obama's Twitter following has experienced a decline of 300,000 users. It is believed that Perry has lost 200,000 followers, bringing his total number of followers down to 108.8 million. And it is speculated that the incident is connected to the purchase of an estimated $44 billion by Elon Musk.

It has been established by industry professionals that the activity that is taking place on Twitter at the present time is organic. This is in contrast to the widespread practise of conducting periodic purges on prominent social media platforms in order to eliminate bogus accounts and bots. The fact that those accounts were legitimate suggests that the users had left the network on their own volition.

Twitter, on the other hand, blamed the significant decrease in followers on the fact that users were creating new accounts just to abandon them later.

On the other hand, there has been a rise of 100,000 persons in the number of people who favour Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. The number of people who follow the Brazilian politician Jair Bolsonaro has increased to 90,000. This includes Mr. Greene.

In either case, it appears that the CEO of Tesla Inc. is on a mission to change the narrative that is being told on Twitter. According to the first report that was published by AfroTech, Must was quoted as having stated in the past that if he were to ever possess the app, he would transform it into a forum that allows "free expression."

The business magnate was quoted as saying, "I believe that it is inevitable to have an inclusive arena for free speech." It is of the utmost importance that people have knowledge not only of their own views but also of the reality around them." "They ought to be allowed to speak their thoughts openly without breaking the law.

He went on to say that if individuals desired less freedom, then they should make their requests known to the government in the appropriate manner. It has been asserted that Nour Kteily, a professor of management and organisation, stated that the arguments regarding "free speech" are not political in nature.

Musk has also highlighted the expansion of the social network Truth Social, which was established by Donald Trump. The application has surpassed Twitter and TikTok in popularity on the Apple App Store. However, despite the fact that Twitter is not currently in first place in the Apple Store, it is still not all that far behind.

Twitter is not even competitive with any of the other apps available in the Apple Store because it is only second to Truth Social. On the other hand, Twitter behind Instagram and Facebook quite significantly in this chart.

She went on to say that "research puts up that free speech arguments are often promoted when the one speaking utters what we want to hear," and vice versa. She said this in furtherance of her previous statement.

She came to the conclusion that "free speech arguments have often been used particularly to protect marginalised and disadvantaged groups," including the statements that are banned on platforms like Twitter and Facebook in the name of hate speech. "Often, free speech arguments have been used particularly to protect marginalised and disadvantaged groups," she said.

However, after Musk assumed control of Twitter, hundreds of thousands of users who had been using the service without any problems cancelled their accounts. They did this allegedly to show their dissatisfaction with the modifications that Musk had made to Twitter.

Katy Perry was the fourth most followed Twitter user, according to the list of most followed Twitter accounts compiled by LifestyleUG; however, because she has lost a considerable amount of followers, she is no longer among the top 5 most followed Twitter users. It appears that artist Taylor Swift, who is known for her song Blank Space, has also been going through the same situation, as she has lost 15,000 followers in just two days.

The effects of the reforms have not been distributed evenly; some people have suffered losses while others have benefited. Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, gained more than 60,000 new followers, while former First Lady Michelle Obama lost a significant number.

The current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has garnered about 10,000 followers, while the former Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbyn, has lost over 1,000 followers.

Ted Cruze (up by 61,261 followers), Harry Styles (up by 6,337 followers), Piers Morgan (up by 875 followers), Mike Cernowich (up by 16,730 followers), Neera Tanden (down by 983 followers), Jeremy Corbyn (down by 1,172 followers), Barack Obama (down by 5,063 followers), Michelle Obama (down by 19,975 followers), and Taylor Swift are some of the famous people who have gained or lost followers in the past few days (down by 10,180).
