Angry At Apple
A Consumer's Educated Rant
On October 23rd 2001, The first Ipod was released to the public and there came the wave of the apple obsessed generation. By the time I was in first grade, My big sister was flocking to stores to get her very own ipod, And in turn I was borrowing it on road trips.
By third grade there was the Ipod touch and I was allowed to use my sisterβs (specially engraved) Ipod touch to play the wireless sims game. I had always been a huge fan of watching her play sims and she would play with her expansion packs on her laptop while she supervised me on her ipod.
However, By fourth grade I got my own Iphone4 and had the time of my life. A close friend of mine had moved away the year before and I was able to use her email to Imessage her. She introduced me to the wonderful world of apps and gave me an introduction to screenshots, Draw Something, Tubes, And Sims Freeplay.
Over time Apple products have grown in popularity and many people love the sleek look of the Iphone. However I fear that money grabbing is more of a factor now than actual functionality of the Iphone. You see, My mother and I just bought new Iphones- And although I have many qualms with the corporation in itself, Iβll never switch to androids and I am in fact a loyal customer of Apple.
The problem with Apple at this moment is that they care more about getting money than actually providing good quality products to their customers. When the Iphone came out you got headphones and a charger. When I went to get my new phone, The box was βSleekβ as the T-Mobile employee described it.
He told us that the company was focusing on making the boxes look more appealing and less bulky. If Iβm being honest dear readers, Iβd prefer a bulky box filled with useful things than a βSleekβ black box with just my phone.
All together two chargers had ended up costing us 200 dollars.
The T-Mobile Employee had said that these were the chargers that were meant for the newer Iphones and that they could get your phone completely charged in forty five minutes. Although I find that an incredible improvement, Was it really worth one hundred dollars each? Because of course you had to play for the plug and the wire.
The charger, By the way, Is extremely short and doesnβt fit in any normal U.S.B drive. Which means you canβt plug it into a normal computer for itunes and you canβt charge your phone in the car on the go, Or with a portable charger.
Of course, Apple is pushing all their βNewβ and more βEfficientβ products, Which means that the new Iphone no longer includes headphones, To urge customers to purchase apple headphones or Airpods.
I find it interesting how much power they have over peopleβs use of their own money. They almost make it so in order to have one product you have to have it all. If you donβt feel like buying Apple headphones, Which are now only compatible with an Iphone, You have to purchase an adapter. However, If you want to charge your phone and listen to music, You have to purchase ANOTHER adapter.
So many people can tell you, βOh Switch to another phone company, Theyβre cheaper.β and Iβll be honest when I say that although other companies are cheaper you end up losing so much that the internet offers when you donβt have Apple.
Artistβs tend to lean towards the App Store because of a wonderful drawing app titled βProcreateβ , an app that you can only get on the Apple Store. As an artist who bought a Microsoft Surface Pro just to make art, I can tell you I was extremely disappointed to not be able to use procreate on a microsoft product.
There are hundreds of amazing apps that you arenβt able to use if you donβt own an apple product. Along with an amazing camera that for some reason, Seems to be the only changing quality of Iphones over the years.
The Iphone I had previously was the IphoneXR and I now have the newest edition. I can legitimately tell you the only real change is that they give us three different cameras.
Iβm angry at Apple because it seems that no matter how much of a loyal customer you are, They funnel most of your money back into their company. Which is smart for short term business plans but not in the long term of consistently keeping your customers.
