The Book The Four was written by New York Times' top business columnist Scott Galloway. It is a very interesting book on how four horsemen of the Apocalypse - Amazon, Google - Facebook, and Apple have taken over the world and are conquering every industry one by one. Each chapter of the book explains how these companies work in detail from their origins to their current impact on the world and what are the implications of their success and achievements for modern society.

About the book:

Not just a Business book, this is the perfect material for anyone who wants to understand how these 4 organizations are changing our lives for the better (and worse). The language is very simple, so if you never read business books - do not be afraid! There's even some very nice humor in the book so you will have a good time with it.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as explained by Scott Galloway:

Amazon is becoming a retailer and killing everything else

Apple - one of the most sophisticated surveillance companies ever

Google - owns our minds

Facebook - the biggest social scorekeeper that has ever existed (and how it will make us all miserable)

Also, the conclusion of the book is very important. As Galloway puts it, Facebook and Google are the biggest existential threats that our civilization has ever seen because of their monopoly power over knowledge and distribution - they control more data than any government in history (especially Google), and this leads to big issues related to privacy.

Amazon is the most dangerous company on the planet with its control of retail, logistics, and now advertising. The book has many other interesting insights on how Amazon is becoming a Star Trek-like entity that is controlling our lives.

Apple has been able to create unparalleled loyalty in their customers - they are more loyal to Apple than to any other person or brand (including family).

Google indexes everything we do online, offline, and even what we dream about so they can sell ads in every part of our life.

The world is changing rapidly and these four companies will have to face problems related to this fact. The future seems scary - especially for our children who are growing up with digital superpowers around them.

The book is perfect for anyone who wants to understand how these four companies are changing our lives for the better (and worse). The language is very simple, so if you never read business books - do not be afraid!
