Google Chrome has taken over the world since very first day. And, all of us have a love-n-hate relationship with this browser. Even after being so popular, there some interesting things that Google Chrome users do not know about this browser.
Today, I am sharing 5 unknown but really cool facts about Chrome which most you haven't even heard of.

1. Idea of Chrome was rejected by CEO Eric Schmidt!
Yes! Eric Schmidt, who was the CEO of Google back in the days, did not approve the idea of building a standalone web browser at Google. But, fortunately the cofounder duo, Larry Page & Sergey Brown, intervened and initiated the development of demo version.
Afterwards, Eric had to agree to it. Interestingly, the team that worked on the demo version of Google Chrome previously worked for Mozilla!
2. Comic book at Google Chromes' Launch
You might wonder what does a comic book has to do with Google Chrome's launch.
Well it does!
On Sep 2, 2008, during the launch event of Google Chrome, the team also released a comic book instead of a 'feature booklet'. This comic book actually highlighted the amazing features of Google Chrome through jokes. And thats how, the audience could remember the features.
Famous blogger of the time, Philipp Lenssen, was the one who spread this comic book all over the place. In the end, the strategy worked like charm!
3. 'Chrome' was a Unplanned Name
The team that worked on this project was not able to actually decide on a name till the very last moment.
And, there are a number of stories about the same. Some insiders say that one of project leads loved fast cars and the browser was also supposed to be faster and that's why they named it Chrome.
Another story is that Google Chrome is based on an open source browser called Chromium and the team related the name to that.
But, the CEO Sundar Pichai stated in an interview that Chrome refers to the user interface of the application which developers had minimized.
4. Hidden T-rex Game
Google always puts some easter eggs here and there in most of the products. And, the same happened with Google Chrome also.
To surprise the users, the developers coded a whole game inside the web browser which popularly called chrome dino game. It only appears when the internet is not connected.
On the 'no internet' screen, you can see a tiny t-rex. That is actually a game which begins when you hit the spacebar or click on the dinosaur.
Without a doubt, it serves as a great pastime when the computer is offline.
5. Google Chrome's Emoji Prank
On the Fool's day in 2013, Google Chrome team decided to do a prank on the users of the web browser. All they did was to add a script to the application that converted any word into a related a emoticon.
Yes! that happened.
As soon as people discovered, instead feeling pranked, they liked it very much. And, due to the user's demand, eventually Google Chrome had to add this as a 'feature' in the browser.
