Why Just Write Is The Best Advice You Don’t Listen To
Before the last 6 months, I hadn’t written anything that wasn’t for my job or university for a number of years. I wanted to write more, I used to write all the time just for fun. I used to write poems and short stories that were just for me. I used to show them to certain members of my family but it was the process of writing them that I really enjoyed.

He walks oddly, shuffling and nearly tripping down the hallway toward his apartment door. I slow my pace, allowing my neighbor— a stuffy ex-marine with one missing tooth, a strong odor of liquor and two weeks' worth of unwashed stench always accompanying him—to reach his door. I crinkle my nose, nearly gagging as he dawdles ahead.
AshleyPublished 14 days ago in MotivationIt Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.

Inspiration is all around us. Sometimes it comes in an email labeled 'TYWK' or 'For You'. Sometimes it's a meme posted on social media. Other times it's more subtle.

I'll start this off by saying that if I had to choose a word for this next year on Vocal, it would be Discovery. Vocal has been my breakthrough for my writing. What I mean by that, is I have enjoyed writing since I can remember. As a child, and into my teens I loved writing poems and song lyrics, and eventually started writing fictional love stories. But then I became an adult, and that life hit me like a freight train. Writing fell on the back burner for many years, even though I still had a desire deep down to continue it. I always let life get in the way though. And then, in my early 30's I ran across the Vocal platform. A spark lit back up in me, just a small one though. Because unfortunately at the time I was stuck in an unhealthy addiction which consumed my time and energy. So I signed up for the yearly subscription, and started to write. And boy did I write, for several months in fact. But sadly a year down the road I looked at my progress, and all I had to show for it were a bunch of unfinished drafts. I was going through so much I didn't really have the ability or attention span to commit myself to what I so badly wanted to do. With that being said, and before I can talk about my goals and aspirations for this new year on Vocal, I need to give you a bit more insight into my past.

The Tithe The church has asked for your ten percent. There are the year end accounts to reconcile and requests on what to give in upcoming events, chances to volunteer to help the cause. The pessimist in me recounts the times in which I said I would give, even if only to myself, and came up short or lacking, missing a deadline or wanting another edit to the timeline so I could make room for the unrequited time. My ledger of lost opportunity looms above me like a ghost visiting my bedroom on Christmas Eve.

For far too long, the world’s been enveloped by darkness. That’s the darker side of humanity, not a lack of sunlight. So many hope that it’ll change. What do you do to affect change in the world?

To Provide Your Final Twenty
He strolls strangely, rearranging and almost stumbling down the corridor toward his loft entryway. I slow my speed, permitting my neighbor — a stodgy ex-marine with one missing tooth, a solid scent of alcohol and fourteen days of unwashed odor continuously going with him — to arrive at his entryway. I crease my nose, almost choking as he tarries ahead.

The Writer BoyPublished about 6 hours ago in MotivationSaying No Isn't As Easy As It Sounds
Every self-help article I see says to say "no" more often. They might as well tell me to look in the mirror, tell myself "you're 10 pounds lighter," and those extra pesky pounds immediately fall right off. That'd be a great trick though.

My house sits close to the entrance of a huge natural reserve area. Every day, I take a short walk around a small pond five minutes from my house, if the weather permits. Don’t underestimate how many creatures the pond has been called home to — bass, catfish, turtles, and sea snakes to name just a few.
Stella Yan PhDPublished about 12 hours ago in MotivationI Live in the Wrong Place
I live in Canada. As a matter of fact, I was born and raised here. My parents came as immigrants and then I was born last of three children. As a child my parents encouraged me to go outside and enjoy the fresh air, sometimes it would be the fresh mountain air. My parents would take me skating to the local skate rink and every time I was on the ice all I could do was wait until I can get off the ice. I would stand there shaking in my skates afraid that I would fall and I would fall often. Strangers would provide sympathetic smiles and sometimes I would fall, and I would stay there. I would sit in my snowpants sitting on the lake.

1. Communication and Understanding: Two colleagues, Sarah and Emma, had a disagreement that focused on their connection. Instead of permitting it to decay, they settled in and examined their opinions. By focusing on each other's perspectives and understanding where the other was coming from, I'm sorry, but it seems like there might have been a mistake. I didn't receive any text to rewrite. Can you please provide the text that needs to be clarified or corrected? Decide their inconsistencies and invigorate their security.
